i think it looks cool my only suggestion is not to put the lights in it like your drew out because i also have a 89 toyo 4x4 i had 2 lights under my winch and when i went off roading the first time i broke the lights so other than that its pretty cool

Not bad. A little hammering, grinding, and paint should fix it right up. Good job.

yhea lines suck. Its all scrap metal. All i have bought are the cutting discs. And its still a lot of grinding left to do. Worst case is that i take the hooks off and put some d-rings on. I just want to keep it as cheap as possible

even better for only like... 20-30 $ in weldind sticks and vutting and grinding disks

the metal comes from the junk pile thats comming out of my granddads new house construction. so the widest piece i van get is 1/4 plate 7" wide and as long as i want.....

still hope for tomarrow be a nice sunny day to work atleast some 5 hours on the bumper :)

lol little work today. my grinder got ****ed up so that kinda killed my day.... now all left is to decide what to do for the underpart on the sides and reinforce some parts and ready to paint )

a few pics.. notice the ugly welds on the side... very thin metal that one so it was hard tfor a noob welder... still gotta grind everything to leave it like a as soft as a babys butt skin :P

I would ditch the stock hooks and do some serious grinding soon. When are the bigger tires coming?

yeah im not to happy bout the hooks ... but they have to wait a while in the mean time while i get se nice beefy d-rings as its still only 1/4 plate....

i hope i can get the big grinder to work tomarrow to get it all nice and see if i can get around to cut the missing pieces...

by the tube cut it and go around looking who can do me some bends :) and itl be ready to paint :)

I'm loving the build. It looks rough right now, but once it's put together I know it's gonna be one bad azz bumper. Props to you for building your own. Nothing a little grinding and paint and time won't fix.

Keep us posted with some update pics!!

i did a lil grinding today.. dont got pics though. started on the lower plates that go around the sides, there not very vertial though i like it etter like that, just enought to hide the original bumper mounts of the car.

yeah i thought abouth torching the tube to bend it but it might be easier to mount the bumper and g find a muffler place that can do me the favor of doing a few bends. prolly ill just dithc the tube around the headlights for now and later ill add it. i just want to finih this and go out to test the new bumper on some trails and see if it holds on when i use the winch :)

your bumper build is coming along nicely but what i like the most is that you are starting your welding skills by using a stick welder. that is what i started with and i am glad i did. you really learn to have patience when you weld with stick. try to slow down a little and concentrate on the gap you have from the tip of the stick to the base metal. the gap should be that same distance as thickness of your rod. (for example 1/8" thick rod the gap should be 1/8"). if you do this you should see a big difference in your welds. but keep up the good work and practice.

i do have one concern on the safety of this bumper. i know its not done but it looks you will pull the bumper off on the first pull with your winch when you get stuck.

its mounted with 3 bolts where the stock tow hooks were mounted, and i still need to put another bracker in some kind of "L" shape to were the bushguard was mounted on.
something like this:

and cut the rest of that plate underpart so it doesent stick out.but some like thats the idea. and reinforce some more the part were its bolted to the main brackets on the back of the bumper

yeah ill go get some thicker rods tomarrow never thought bout that..... cause with this sheets of metal all bent up as its is scrap metal some of the gaps are pretty nasty....
