Hey guys i have a 04 Ford Ranger 4x4. She has a transfer case plate. But i would like to make one for the engine and gas tank. I saw a good price for a sheet of 3/16" steel is that thick enough? I dont do extreme rock crawling, but i do go over rocky trials. My truck will have a 4" lift and 33s soon. So it wont be toooo low to the ground for long. Any input would be great.

 

yea 3/16 will be fine. alot of my stuff is 3/16 and it holds up to the royal beating that i put it through.

 

should i need beads in it for strenght or would the flat sheet be fine?

 

what you can do is make a flatsheet but box it in around the edges to give it rigidity. then maybe take some flatstrap and make and X pattern along the backside of it. will make it crazy strong.
