I was thinking of running it up through the corner of my shell and then to the hole in the top of the bed. I know it isn't as clean but I don't like the idea of notching my tail light. I know it doesn't make much sense.

You gotta watch that you don't pinch that coax too much. It could damage the braid or even damage the core shielding and make your SWR's go through the roof.....i.e. fry your cb.

You want it somewhere where it won't get rubbed or pinched.

ok, what is the best way of removing the tail light and notching it? I've never replaced a bulb or removed the lights on this truck.

Taillights are hyper easy. There are two exposed screws on the outside, and if you drop the tailgate, you will see two on the inside. Remove them and the lights will fall right out.

once you get that bracket hooked up its really obvious where to run the coax and where to notch the light . The notch will not have to be very big and so its not like water can get in the light housing or anything . Check out how i ran it https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=38227

Make sure you note the notch is slightly bigger then needed cuz i slipped with the drill.

Heres some more pic of the new bracket. I put it in the leathe at work and trimed it up some. The tailgate was slightly scratching the mount. Her are some pices.
