My first fabrication attempt v. skidplate

Im almost finished with it, all I need to do is get a steel plate to cover the whole thing (gotta wait to monday to go buy it)

the frame is all 1/2" steel tubing, and the brackets are made out of 3/16" steel. I'm not sure if im going to have to weld any more support in or not (im going with 1/8" steel for the plate) I was hanging on it. and pushing on it pretty hard last night, and it seemed it wanted to move the truck more than the frame, so i think with the steel plate on there, it should be pretty strong.

What do you guys suggest for a coating on it?

it does look big, I should have made the brackets face outward instead of inward. I might grind them off and shorten it and try it again, I think that might actually make it easier to put on and off.

It does look a little large in the picture, but I don't wanna give my final opinion until I see a full front shot with the steel plate on. So far so good though.

I should have a finished shot of it tommarow, then im going to have to do something about raising my bumper, i bent the bumper support using the front tow hooks rippin my buddy out of a mudhole (or getting ripped out, one of the two )

Quick tip....make sure that you allow air to enter that PS cooler or your R&P will fry...and BTW they're not rebuildable....

looks pretty good for my first big welding project

I might try to fab up some new bumpers here pretty soon

PS. please ignore the fact that my bumper is still hanging low from the body lift, my bumper support is twisted, and i havent gotten around to straightening it out so I can make some brackets to raise it up.

Sweet, looks real good, fits under the valance, too, I'm assuming. Don't worry about moving your bumper up, just build one that's big and beefy.

Did you weld it to the x-member or is it bolted on?
