Rear axle truss

Has any of you guys built your own rear axle truss? I'd like one that gaps on the axle tubes.
I'd like it for some function, put mostly looks. Anyone help me without spending a fortune? My email address is skippyf15@hotmail.com thanks.

generally a truss gaps from tube to tube

If you're good you can make one from a piece of 2x4 tubing.. I've also seen them made from plate/flat stock.

Check out ballistic fab and ruff stuff specialties. They're probably gonna have the best prices on 'em.

If you lived closer I could build you one with some 1.5" HREW tubing and throw in some dimple died plates... it would look cool and be functional.

034x4 that is nice work. I don't have a need for that much beef for what I want to do. That is really nice craftsmanship.
Prerunner, that's an awesome offer, thanks.

the reason its not evenly spaced is that the pumpkin isn't dead center and it is to the right a little bit.

Yup. One axle tube is longer than the other. The holes are spaced the same, vertically. There is the same amount of material above and below each hole from one side to the next, which spaces them differently horizontally because of the different lengths of tube.

I had one on my old chevy that used what looked like muffler claps to hold it in place. I'm sure it was mainly for looks maybe it did have some support. I use my truck for running fire calls and hauling my snowmobiles. Just a little added strenght is what I'm looking for. Not a weld on deal.

^^^ what strength are you going to get unless you weld it on. i dont understand why you want to waist your time and money. unless you weld it on. you should break the bolts holding it on b4 you bend the axle tubes. im not trying to be an *** i just dont get it. you dont really need one if your truck is a dd and really sees off road.

yea, bolting it isn't gonna do ****. You need to weld it on or everything can still flex.

Ok, I know welding it is the way to go. I don't go off-roading very often and I don't pound my truck. I just like the way they look. It adds something to the look. I do sometimes have to use it off-road during fire calls. It would be more like a dress up add on. A what be!

I would still weld it.. someone who knows what you've got and sees the clams is likely to laugh at you, plus why do all the work for it not to be functional?

you don't need a truss unless you plan on beating the **** out of it.. your very unlikely to bend an 8.8 under pretty mild wheelin.

they've got one of the beefiest covers on the market at the lowest price.. use "RANGER" at checkout under the 'coupon' section to get 10% off.

Your right, I need to have it welded. I only do real light off-roading. I would like to protect the diff. however. I will check in to ruffstuffspecialties.

I beat the **** out of my 8.8 with 38's and 42 (granted only with a 3.0) and haven't bent any tubes or broken any parts. Only reason it's getting trussed is for the added strength and something to mount the upper links to.

For your intended use there is absolutely no reason to add a truss.

Your right, it was more for cosmedic reasons anyway. I did look a the ruffstuff site. I would like a diff cover and skid plate. I damaged the front diff on my old blazer during a wildfire I was on. Hit something solid and pushed the cover in some. Didn't know that until I got back to the station and smelled the lube.
