Fender Flares

I'm not sure if this is the right topic to post this under but, I was thinking of making some fender flares for my ranger and my buddy was saying it's pretty easy. I guess you would just use some sheet metal and bend it to fit in the fender well and on top of that he said to buy some heat molding plastic and use a propane torch to mold it onto the sheet metal and then rivit it onto the vehicle. I've never attempted this before so I was wondering if anyone has any experience in this feild or has any ideas that will help?

Thanks

you can probably find a set of flares on craigslist for about 100 if you are lucky. that would be much wiser and cheaper than making your own.
