Yet another Fab project

So since I have the front hitch, I needed to make myself a front receiver shackle for it...

So I found some 1.75" square stock and cut it down to fit inside a 2" sq tube (1.5in square) and rounded the edge so it slid right in...

The tube is 7in long with about 2in of the sq stock sticking out. Sq stock has a 7/8in hole for the d-ring shackles I'm picking up tomorrow from my buddy's 4wd shop. So it's welded on all 4 sides of the sq stock where it touches the sq tube and I drilled 4-1/2in holes in the tubing and plug welded the stock to the tube to reinforce the front welds. Then ground the excess plug weld down flush and it's going to get a coat of bedliner tomorrow and then the receiver goes in! Pics of that to come when I get the d-rings.

I'll also take orders on these if people like them. I currently have 1 made for myself and 04blackedge ordered one from me. If you order one you'll get what you see in the pic (except it'll be bed lined and come with the d-ring).

What do you guys think?

Very nice. I feel even though home-made these could get costly really quick. Any clue?

I already quoted another member $40 shipped with d-ring and painted up with bed liner... Matt, I could probably do $25 shipped for just the receiver untouched after being assembled.

Yeah, it's roughly 1/4in wall!

can you get a pic of how far it sticks out when its in the hitch? i want the beginning of the solid part almost flush with the end of the receiver if i get one, you know the less it sticks out.. the better. I'm still cursed with leaf springs in the rear.
i can do $25..

The hole is 7/8, anymore and I don't trust the sidewalls of the metal. But still... It'll be sick.

Evan, I can do that if you want.. :-)

Matt, I'll go snap some pics of it on my truck, not painted with no d-ring...

that looks sick. won't that lock eventually begin to kill the paint on the valence if it moves around? not like it really matters

Looks good Tre, It appears as though Aaron, Rob and I have started a cartoonish d-ring shackle trend!

Can't do any other style pin, nothing else clears. That doesn't bother me either. It does what it's told! lol

I realized that after I drilled the holes too lol... Oh well... I'm actually gonna modify it here this next week.. to fit a 1in pin shackle hook... I think it's about 4in long... Trent this box is gonna be heavy with your stuff in it... So I might need some helping shipping it lol.

1in pin shackles, bout 4in long was $20...

i don't need an inch, so I assume 5/8 or 3/4 was in the range of $15?

I'm gonna weld up a front receiver from a hitch i cut off a truck at work a few months ago.. just need some plate for bracing and a skid.

No prob, just let me know. It might be cheaper to just ship the receiver and shackle separately in a flat rate box.
