Question on length between crossmember and front bumper
Hey guys. I scored a class 3 receiver for $25 today. It is exactly 31.5 inches wide which is what my frame OD is. All I have to do is cut the brackets off and get it on. Before I go about getting it welded up, I was wondering if someone could tell me the length or width between the front of the crossmember and the front of the front bumper.
I am going to make it similar to another member's on here where he cut out 2" of the cross member and had the receiver tube welded to it. I first need to geta BFH and beat the drivers side of the cross member in from bending it while pulling someone out of the mud.
Thanks guys.

hey, i did that work for my brother pretty much:

If we would do it again, we would make the hitch so it was about 1inch further down. Now it barely hits the top of the opening the bumper.
move it ~1inch down will center it in the bumper hole and make it look better.
and this only works if you're BL...

^^What he said. I believe I may be the member you are referring to. I used a hidden hitch made for the rangers. Big mistake. Shoulda just got a hitch at a junkyard and cut it up and make it perfect for my truck.
You've gotta pull the bumper anyway to install it if you are bodylifted, so pull that bumper off and measure. I havn't a clue what those measurements are that you are looking for.

Thanks. I am bodylifted. The ID is 26.5". I got a draw tight hitch from a marine shop that pulled it off a donor. Basically, I want the very front of the receiver tube to be just behind my front license plate. It has to be about 6" I would think by guestimating it.
What I could do it notch an inch out of the ends so it sits just inside the frame and on top then weld it all the way around. That should be good and beefy then.
Using this for a winch.
