Contemplating a skid plate

New member, new to me 03 edge.

I have been thinking that I would like to make myself a skid plate to help me out during mud season/snow and be rugged enough to come down on a rock. I would in all probability have this work done for me by a welder.

Anyway I have seen some excellent diy plates on this forum, however I am still confused as to a few points. First of all my stock crossmember does not look like its drilled for a skid plate, so Id need some kind of mount welded to it? right?

Another question I have is what I should be paying to have a welder fab and install a plate, any Ideas. Honestly I have no idea.

thanks for you're patience for this first time truck owner.

You could drill the skid plate in so that you could remove it but if I were you I would just weld the skid plate right to the frame.

And as far as price that will vary depending on where you live. I would go to a shop and then compare that to other places.
