My first project welding and fabbing something up. i thought it came out ok considering the tools i had to use(not the right ones). But it seems to hold up pretty well. not done painting it yet. and 4 KC daylighters are going to be up top soon.:)

Not trying to dampen your spirits but it looks like it was made out of scrap exhaust pipe then hastily spray bombed.

scutt Apr 12, 2007 02:22 PM

as i said it isnt being done painted

l2en Apr 12, 2007 02:24 PM

Look at that cute lil ranger outside!

beaver25 Apr 12, 2007 02:24 PM

I think it looks alright

scutt Apr 12, 2007 02:25 PM

thats the pops 03 stock FX4

Alon Apr 12, 2007 02:38 PM

um... would be cool to run your exhaust through all of the tubing, then have a tip come out somewhere.

sorry... but exhaust tubing is meant for one thing, exhaust.

how much does a real roll bar cost?

scutt Apr 12, 2007 02:41 PM

find me a real roll bar for the ranger.... cant find them anywhere.

l2en Apr 12, 2007 02:54 PM

There's one up for sale once a month or so on the board. You can get them off the old STX's then just sandblast and repaint.

SteveOh Apr 12, 2007 02:58 PM

iam not usually negative but i dont like it ...i really dont like rollbars anyways but exhaust pipe isnt the way to go...even after paint its going to still show all the little curvy things and joints.....i have to give the thumbs down on this one.....A for creativity though

Link to Roll Bar

I don't really like it either, but to each is own.

scutt Apr 12, 2007 08:02 PM

ay almost $600 i think i will stick to my $50 home made one

Redneckstone Apr 12, 2007 08:07 PM

on the same page as a PVC roll bar sorry no A+ for effort...

ScottG Apr 13, 2007 12:49 AM

how about this?

get it rhinolined

because then it will stiffen it up, and hide the fact that its exhaust pipe

Dustin01 Apr 26, 2007 06:30 PM

Go to a Metal Scrap yard and pic up some pre-bent pieces of pipe, then get the same diameter tubing from them too and there you go, start building. I work at a Metal Fabricating shop and we have ton's of it laying around, that's how I built mine

Wow, you guys are being a little brutal here, like he stated above, it's his first time trying something like this. I think it came out pretty darn good for a first time. It looks like a rollbar should. Looks to be symetrical. It will serve the purpose it made it for, which is to hold lights. He's not a pro, he's just learning and I'm sure he learned a heck of a lot from doing this. Hopefully one of the things he didn't learn was to not post the end results of his work on here because they would only get bashed.

Yeah, exhaust pipe isn't the best way to go, it won't provide any protection in a rollover and won't hold up to well or look the best, but I don't think that was his point. I think his point was to use the new skills he has to make something functional for his truck, which is what he did. Now that he has increased his comfort level with making this from the exhaust pipe he used, he can now move up to using more expensive materials and not be as afraid of wasting material because things didn't measure up quite right or he got the angles wrong or something.

So, good job Scutt, keep it up.

^^^^^im with jason. good for you making something. hell i give you credit for making it look that good. i wouldnt know where to even start. awesome job on ur first project, keep up the good work

b3kbruiser Apr 26, 2007 09:00 PM

I, for one, think it looks pretty sweet. If you have one, get a grinder and grind down the welds a bit so they don't stand out and then sand it smooth, then Rhinoline it.

Awesome work

cowboy63645 Apr 26, 2007 09:03 PM

^^^^ im with them, looks great for what it is, and as long as it serves the purpose it was built for, thats all that matters. GREAT JOB!!!!

99ranger4x4 Apr 26, 2007 09:24 PM

it looks good for a first project, my stuff looks like crap

what would a grizzly one really do for you in the event of a roll over anyways? its bolted to the bed..

I'll agree 100%. This sites not about bashing down on other people. Thats what makes them feel unwanted here, or to not come back. All in all it looks good. Awsome Job!

 ......hope you dont expect it to hold up anything......

camodown Apr 27, 2007 12:55 PM

good job buddy, I have to agree with the other people who said it, but grind down your welds and rhino it and you will be set.

it serves the same purpose as my $300 rollbar, so rock on

2ranger2 Apr 30, 2007 05:14 PM

You'll quickly realize that if it isn't up to everyone's standards and if THEY didn't do it themselves it won't be right...I see more bashing in this place than anything else. Ridiculous.

Good job for a first-timer. I couldn't even begin to do it close to that quality.

Alon Apr 30, 2007 11:10 PM

i dont see whats wrong with telling someone your honest opinion about their work.

We dont all have to kiss everyones asses all the time. If i made a cardboard bumper and said its my first time its so sweet, should everyone tell me how awesome it is and how cool it looks? no... i'd expect comments about how crappy it is. sorry, he posted this on a public forum for opinions and i gave him mine
