Home made lightbar/rollbar
My first project welding and fabbing something up. i thought it came out ok considering the tools i had to use(not the right ones). But it seems to hold up pretty well. not done painting it yet. and 4 KC daylighters are going to be up top soon.:)

Not trying to dampen your spirits but it looks like it was made out of scrap exhaust pipe then hastily spray bombed.

um... would be cool to run your exhaust through all of the tubing, then have a tip come out somewhere.
sorry... but exhaust tubing is meant for one thing, exhaust. how much does a real roll bar cost? |
find me a real roll bar for the ranger.... cant find them anywhere.

There's one up for sale once a month or so on the board. You can get them off the old STX's then just sandblast and repaint.

iam not usually negative but i dont like it ...i really dont like rollbars anyways but exhaust pipe isnt the way to go...even after paint its going to still show all the little curvy things and joints.....i have to give the thumbs down on this one.....A for creativity though

get it rhinolined because then it will stiffen it up, and hide the fact that its exhaust pipe |
Go to a Metal Scrap yard and pic up some pre-bent pieces of pipe, then get the same diameter tubing from them too and there you go, start building. I work at a Metal Fabricating shop and we have ton's of it laying around, that's how I built mine

Yeah, exhaust pipe isn't the best way to go, it won't provide any protection in a rollover and won't hold up to well or look the best, but I don't think that was his point. I think his point was to use the new skills he has to make something functional for his truck, which is what he did. Now that he has increased his comfort level with making this from the exhaust pipe he used, he can now move up to using more expensive materials and not be as afraid of wasting material because things didn't measure up quite right or he got the angles wrong or something. So, good job Scutt, keep it up. |

I, for one, think it looks pretty sweet. If you have one, get a grinder and grind down the welds a bit so they don't stand out and then sand it smooth, then Rhinoline it.

good job buddy, I have to agree with the other people who said it, but grind down your welds and rhino it and you will be set.

You'll quickly realize that if it isn't up to everyone's standards and if THEY didn't do it themselves it won't be right...I see more bashing in this place than anything else. Ridiculous.

We dont all have to kiss everyones asses all the time. If i made a cardboard bumper and said its my first time its so sweet, should everyone tell me how awesome it is and how cool it looks? no... i'd expect comments about how crappy it is. sorry, he posted this on a public forum for opinions and i gave him mine |
