1.5" or 1.75" .120 is the way to go. Any bigger/smaller than that looks goofy on our trucks...

I just bought some 1.75" .120 DOM last week and it cost $3.72/ft mild will be a bit less than that. It could also be different since you are in TX, only way to find out would be to call the metal supply house.

I think that is off a full size truck that the guy cut down and made to fit his ranger.
I think it came off an f150.

Yea, and to think when I bought steel last (about a year ago) I paid $2.75/ft for 1.75" and $2.62/ft for 1.5" DOM... should have stocked up.

I agree. I personally like 1.75. Its what I used for my sliders and what I will use for my bed cage and front/rear bumpers

lol it would have been more cost effective to buy gas at 2.50 a gallon and stock pile that.

but steel seems to be just as bad in price. i remember it used to be cheap!

1.75 is PLENTY strong. It takes a whole hell of a lot to beat up on it. why would you add more weight for no reason?

not to mention, IMO 2" looks funky..

like most of us said 1.75 is perfect. 2 is huge compared to 1.75 as a visual effect on the trucks.

Yup, you don't really need 2"...

1 1/2" Mild held up pretty well against another truck...

Destroyed a Toyota pickup with mine... lol
