Safari Pacific XT1 - Expedition Trailer

I've decided to build myself an expedition trailer. Mostly to move all of my gear from both of my vehicles to one tow-able package. This way I don't need to swap things back and forth. And partly to build something cool again.

I'll be cross posting here, though I have a good chunk started at http://www.adventurerslife.com/forum....php?f=42&t=29

That looks great! How much do you think it'll weigh empty when it's done?

Thanks. So far its at 360 lbs and I'm guessing 500-600 finished.

Thanks. I have a couple trips in mind. Mostly I'm building it to carry lots of food and fuel for long trips. And to unload some weight from my rigs.

I originally wanted to add a couple bends like your talking about. Though finding someone that can bend thin sheet steel thats 6 feet long and have it done cheaply was a pain. So I just left it strait.

Welded on some shock mounts then finished painting underneath and inside the box.

The latch arrived today for the rear door. So now I can finish that up.

Very nice sir. You must have quite the deal on metal to being able to just fab this stuff up. Either that or money isn't an issue. Either case, I like it!

Thanks!

Not really. I buy from Industrial Metal Supply. Its cheaper than Home Depot and other places like that, but by no means cheap. Money is always an issue, but I don't take short cuts anymore. I learned a long time ago that short cuts end up costing a crap load more than just spending the money and doing it right the first time. Its that getting older thing kicking in...haha
