skid plate ideas?

i have a welding class at school and i was going to maybe make some skid plates for my truck, or something, so i need some pictures, of your skid plates, or some ideas of something i can make, because im pretty much stuck. i was going to make a tube bumper or a bed cage, but the school shop doesnt have a tube bender, so that idea went out the window. so any pictures or ideas would be appreciated. thx also i have a 2001 ranger edge 2wd

I have a custom built front skid plate. My truck is lifted so the front crossmembers are different, but im sure you can make something similar. Note im also 4x4 so thats why it covers alot under the truck as well...

everything is welded... the plates were cut and welded on at an angle. i dont remember if it was 3/16s or 1/4 but either way it will take a beating
