looks kinda flimsy, don't think it would take much of a hit

That's a pretty salty price too. You can build your own from 1/4" diamond plate that'd be hella tougher for half the price. I had one made for under $100 by an aircraft fab shop.

thats a rip off. watch ebay, use the term: ranger skid and ull hit one. i bought my skid plate for $65 shipped, and it came of an 00 ranger.

Noone 02-25-2007 07:58 AM

i've seen better prices on here for stock ones

offroadjoe 02-25-2007 09:10 AM

i didnt plan on buying one or anything, just passing it on. ya that price seemed kinda steep to me as well but i have a ton of diamond plate at my grandpas that he got from a friend that ill build one from eventually

Was gonna say, I think you could just have a custom fab shop make up one for a lot cheaper then that. But it does look pretty clean.

I thought 98 and 99 xlt Rangers(4x4 off road packages) came with a factory stainless steel skid plate on the front, on the transfer case and fuel cell?My 99 came with them from the factory.

Lone-Ranger 07-03-2007 01:33 AM

i built one like that just using stronger materials and it cost a fraction of the price.

My 98 4x4 offroad model only came with a skid plate on the gas tank

Build you own or have somebody build it. Shoot my freaking rock sliders cost $350 and that is using .120 DOM. I can use a hilift to jack up half the truck, I tested them in my driveway unlike that flimsy $200 plate.

I built my own last year and it has taken some serious hits. I have had to pull it off a few times to hammer dents out of the diamond plate and even added another crossbrace.Mounts where my swaybar used to be and I welded mounting tabs to the frame at the front just below the bumper.I can remove it in about 5mins if I need to.

Matt forgot to add you must have engine host to lift it into place. lol

99ranger4x4 01-31-2008 07:15 PM

hahahaha
yea.. weights 50-60lbs

i only had a BL at the time.. so i just used the floor jack to put it against the frame and even took some of the weight off the tires then welded it on

its only been used once :(
but i guess thats one radiator saved eh? haha
