sweet i was starting to thank wtf how is it going to open with the handle being cut off but i see now you just open from the inside

I did a quick measurement of my tail gate and on the outside its 45 3/4". This was just a quick rough measurement.

I have too say that the bed looks much better with the tailgate.

Why Not??? I did. You did the right thing, a step side tailgate is only 8" narrower.

i lied 26 7/8" was the middle.. now to read the rest of the responses.

yea, i kinda want to take one of those latches they have on toppers and make that work.. it would be nice to have a latch.

more pics will come.. i need to finish welding/bond it up.. i have the outside welded up tight but the inside has some wicked gaps.

oh so i'm ~4" narrower than a step side

it was gonna be tied into the front receiver, but i'm going to be putting the receiver else where.. so i gotta weld up the hole i cut in it.

all i did was hack up my old skid plate.

i did n00b.

here's the origional post
went over to 99ranger4x4s house to drop off some tie down straps and well, we got his tailgate to go with the dovetail. and mocked up a skidplate, ect.
