new welder and cart..... update.

ok update.

heres the cart ive been making for my 2 month old millermatic 180 welder. been takin my time last few weeks and working on it when i get home from my night job.

its suprizeingly stable very hard to tip over even with that tall c-25 bottle and the welder. the frame is made of 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/8" steel angle, the shelfs are 12ga sheet metal. the steering knuckles i bought from a barstool racer website. wheels n tires are good ole 5 dollar harbor freight. i have yet to do is make a better handel for it bolt the welder to the cart. and bolt on 2 ratchet straps to the channel iron to keep the tank very tight to the cart. some cable hooks to hank the mig gun and ground on. and various other little nick knacks to store crap i need. oh and paint it haha

and the temporary welder cart.... lmao pos chinaman waggon.

awesome! Its funny how with all our projects we had to find welders to use, now we'll each have our own.

so a small update...

welded on some flat stock to the bottom shelf to sorta enclose it. bolted on a ratchet strap on to the 4" channel iron to hold the tank very firm. i also welded on a small chain as a back up to the strap. also bolted the welder to the cart. i also welded on a semi truck u bolt i found in a scrap pile to the 4" chennel iron riser. its purpose is a lifting eye. the welder tank od sheilding gas and welding wire adds up quick. im guessing 250lbs it weighs in this picture.

one of theses days ill get to painting the cart. just keep adding crap to it so why paint it yet.

heres my way of load testing

i had a stick welder. a 1982 copper wound transformer miller buzzbox. wish i never sold it. couldent use it at the house my 240V circuit is not heavy enough to run it. so i bought the little miller matic 180. my 240V circuit can run it with ease.

I'm just gonna go buy a 220v Lincoln or Hobart stick welder in a few weeks... No need for a fancy MIG welder when i can lay a perfectly good bead with a stick welder. (even tho i want a fancy little MIG welder, a TIG would be nice too)

let the projects begin ha

next is get the handel done better. its kinda loose and crude. it was i need a handel and grabed a bunch of scraps out of my scrap pile....

BTW other than the wheels and steering knuckles the whole cart is built from stuff in my scrap iron pile.

so yea did a little more work on the cart. made a new and better handel for it. with a stop so it dont wipe out the mig gun control plug on the front pannel. also added 2 small gussets to the underside for the knuckles.

next important thing im going to add is a fire extinguisher. hope to never need it but if i do it will be close.

pics.
