Doesn't that seem suspicious? You better make sure everything looks okay inside of it first.

Its just a turbo... not a turbo kit... I used to have the dream of turbo'ing something... but when you factor everything else that it needs BESIDES the turbo, its a money pit... Have fun with the rest of the build

15-18psi is alot for a turbo, without a whole rebuilt b lock / head....

Ive always wanted to supercharge my 4.0 but now at 76k miles, im scared to blow my internals..

thats alot of psi. i was thinking youd run like 5-8 psi on our motors. will that turbo create that much psi?

yeah thhe turbo i bought will hold 20 easy i think but im plannig on going all out so thats why i said 15-18 i will get a better turbo but for now this will do i wanna end up pushing 22-25psi i know it sounds like alot but i mean honda do it all day why cant we...right?
i could get the piping and run 5-7psi but i would rather do it big the first time and hopfully right...but once i get everything i need and want ill start a log and post pics eveyday i mess with it i think if i get down and work constant i can get it assembled in about a week idk how long it would take to get it started im sure ill run into poblems so im not promising anything

let me tell u this there is no way ur guna run over 6-8 pounds. a ford probe has the strongest crank made for a factory motor and they can only handle 12 pounds and eagle talon tsi a turbo car can only handle 15 pounds from the factor and the motors are built for a turbo. the 4.0 is not a motor that is built to handle any boost let alone very little u should stick with about 5 pounds to keep internals safe

i dont think you know alot about this i also said i was forging my internals and so they will hold up fine i have weisco pistons getting crower rod total seal rings bigger injectors fuel pump and MAF and take a gander at this http://rangersrevenge.com/turbo_ranger_road_run.wmv]20lbs in a ranger[/URL]
he is using the 2.5l ranger motor and he's on 20lbs so i guess ill be fine since he is the build im goin off of and i have a buddy with a laser(same as talon) and he's running 24psi on stock internals and you can make any car run more than stock boost just cuz that what they come from the factory with 15 psi doesnt mean thats all they can run

Coming from someone that has had 6 turbo cars the truck will never hook up and I doubt you will run that much boost, mabey on 110 and the tune of a lifetime. Why didnt you just buy something that was turbo in the first place instead of a truck which takes way too much money to make fast?

yeah thats a pretty high PSI, im actually looking into doing the same thing with my 91 ranger. that turbo you bought is the same that came on the turbo thunderbirds in the late 80's. its not a bad turbo but if you plan on running a decent amount of boost (around 14psi or so) i have read that it is a good idea to upgrade to atleast a T3/T4 therefore it will help keep the turbo cooler due to the less stress and heat that will be generated on the larger turbo. Also i have read that with running that much psi on the small turbo you must beware of detonation. I have found kits on ebay with a T3/T4 turbo for the rangers for a little under $600. Its not the best kit but there is nothing wrong with the turbo and its a decent way to get a quick setup to start from. good luck with the build, ill be in your shoes shortly. - Jay
