1998 ford ranger turbo setup questions.
i looked through the forums and haven't found any info i need so i figured i would ask it here.
i have a 1998 ford ranger with the 2.5L 175k miles. perfect compression, new timing belt, NGK plugs, motorcraft wires, new coils, tuned computer, 5 speed manual just rebuilt, 7.5" 3.73 rear end. with 235/70/16 tires, 3 inch suspension lift, 32+mpg. i want to ad a small turbo JUST 6-8 psi you know an extra 40-50hp to makeup for the i4 when hauling a boat or trailer or toys or going up the mountains. my quests are this.. will i need a new tune for 6-8psi, will i need new injectors and if so what size, will i need a new fuel pump, and again if so what size, where should i put the oil lines for the turbo and finally is the 2.5" magnaflow exhaust i have big enough to accomidate the turbo. please and thank you for any and all information.. let me say ahead of time, i do not want to go 5.0, i dont want 80psi of boost i dont want nos or anything stupid so please dont hit me with a bunch of that stuff its just not me. i love my ranger and just want a little extra hp |
I have built a couple junk yard tubo kits for a few cars. You might not need to upgrade you fuel pump and injectors if your running a small turbo with low boost. Buy a wide band air fuel raito gauge and go from there. Aem make a nice one.
