3.0 to 2.3 turbo swap

im new to the whole idea of boost. i have a lifted 2001 2wd 3.0 auto tranny. would anyone reccomend swapping out my 3.0 and putting in a newer dohc 2.3? i would like to keep the tranny, but if not i would swap to either an older 4 speed or 6 speed. and can i use a carb so i dont have to buy a tuner and mess with the wiring of efi?

are these kits junk?

i know nothing bout the kit but it looks like u will need the header also. doing a swap is a HUGE job, so be prepared for all kinds of headaches. i actualy considered going with the 2.3 turbo when i swapped mine. it had a 2.3 and prolly woulda been easier than the 302

Personally, I'd go with adding boost to the V6 rather than swapping to the 4-banger. You can go with less boost, and you'll end up with as much if not morw HP, and better low-end torque. As for going carb, you're much better off with the programmable FI in a boost situation. It might sound easier to carb it, but you will have more headaches trying to tune for the boost.
