Problem is the 3.0 part. Stock I beat a 3.0 with a blower on it. The engine just isn't designed to make big power. You have to spend real money to get power out of it.

Anyway. I have heard that a set of roller rockers will really wake it up. http://www.moranav6racing.com/catego...?CategoryID=36

Swap that 3.slow for a 5.0. Thats what I plan on doing once I find one.

Im not trying to start anything but Im calling BS, I can take a 4.0 4wd ext cab and that looks like what you have. Ive had a few buddies ridicule me for modding my 3.0 but I take the smirk off their faces when I pass them i their 4.0s with just an exhaust and intake. I pull them off the line like crazy but they edge forward after 3rd but once we are both in 5th I pull away.... now call me stupid but I believe that should be a no brainier that a 3.0 2wd can take any 4wd ranger stock or with just exhaust and an intake.... this is just what Ive experienced their 4.0 ext cab 4wd rangers were 03+ no lift no huge tires just stock but the exhaust and intake.

a 3.0 ranger with a blower should take any 4.0 stock even with some mild mods. A 3.0 ranger with a blower can put out 323 rwhp, I dont know the tq numbers... so 323 vs what 200 something (your stock numbers)... thats pretty easy to say that a boosted 3.0 will easily take a 4.0. The 3.0 can take up to 300 some odd hp and tq but needs to be built for it... and no one should dump that much money when they can go buy a fox and can go much quicker with their money.

Check out morana, also Thomas Knight thomas knight : turbo upgrades + superchargers... start running forged internals get a good cam grind and a 50 or 75 shot of nitrous also make sure you have the right gears and tune.

Sorry. Not BS. I was on my way to work and a guy in a white Ranger tried to race. I didn't smoke him but I beat him from off the line and all the way until we shut down. We stopped to talk and he had a Whipple kit on his 03 3.0 extended cab. I don't know what to tell you other than it happened.

323 HP with a blower? so a blower will almost double the HP? im throwing the BS flag on that! i know the 3.slow can make some respectable power, but it will take thousands of dollars to get it. its not called the 3.slow for no reason, its a plain turd. a roller kit, stroker kit, some porting, polishing with a blower and a good tune then youll be putting out good numbers but you better have deep pockets. IMO at that point youd be further ahead dropping in a mildly built 5.0

205-250 with a supercharger 323 with turbo forged internals even though the 3.0 making 323rwhp is a probe its still a 3.0 vulcan, just front wheel drive.

this chart is with a whipple putting out 246

read these two quotes. in one you say a ranger with a blower, a blower meaning supercharger can make 323 HP, more than double stock HP numbers, than youre next post you say its a probe with a turbo and a built motor thats making that, not a ranger with a blower. the two are alot different from each other.

yes the first one I was referring to a "blower" supercharger, ontop of a built engine, not a stock one....I had been reading up on turbocharging and the 323 got stuck in my mind. Sorry I left that out and that I confused the supercharger with the turbo and sorry about the confusion and lack of information I was giving.

no biggy, i just know guys with the 3.slows will read that and think they can just slap a supercharger on it and pull 300 horses, my point is that it takes more money than most are willing to spend on a V6 to pull that out of one.

oh without a doubt it will take at least $5,000 just to get that much.... yeah I didnt mean to get guys hopes up... its pretty much pointless to put that much money into a 3.0 but if you have the resources, its awesome to say "yeah I got a 300hp 3.0v6" lol

i plan on turbocharging my 3.0L looking for 250whp and 280-290tq. Im sure i can get it without much of a problem. and if that guy knew what he was doing with the supercharger he would be pushing around 220hp to the wheels. no way that guy you beat had a supercharger unless it was electric haha. my 3.0 hangs with the 4.0l's and even at the track many people ask me is that a 4.0L every time i tell them 3.0 they are surprised. and im sure a bored and stroked forged internal Vulcan could grab 350-400 whp if done right.

Im not gonna get too involved on this, But I will say that I outran my buddy in his 03 FX4 Level II. Its a 4.0 Auto with the 4.10 gears yada yada, you guys know the specs. My truck was an 05 Regular Cab Man. Trans with the 3.0 and 4.10 gears. The only mods to my truck were a set of JBA headers and a K&N drop in filter. I believe he had a Cold Air kit on it at the time.

Honestly, it wasn't close at all. We only got up to 60 or so before we let off, so who knows what have happened after that. However, I raced him in my current truck going down the interstate from about 60 MPH to about 85-90MPH and it was very close. I started slowly pulling away after about 80 MPH, then he let off. He wont have a chance though in a few months. Im putting the Cobra 1.7 roller rockers on probably this week sometime, as well as the Upper intake spacer. Then Im getting some torque monsters pretty soon, and maybe a tuner of some sort. Lol, aint no way he'll be able to keep up after that stuff.

i'm not trying to rain on your parade buddy but i had a 91 probe buddy they dont come stock with a 3.0 vulcan motor they have a 2.5l klde motor and the sad thing is that small v6 puts out more power stock than a 3.0 vulcan. on 8 psi of boost in a ranger with a 3.0 can definately put out 323. it all depends on what else you are running with that though. if you build everything the right way i can believe this motor putting that kind of power out at the wheels. yall have way to much doubt in this motor and in the end it may be slow but you know what these motors will outlast the 4.0 anyday

not to be an a-hole but the 3.0 did come in the probe stock from the factory from 1988-1992. You had the 1993-1997 model.

1988-1992 (Mazda GD platform)

2.2 L 110 hp I4
2.2 L Turbo 145 hp I4
3.0 L 140 hp V6

1993-1997 (Mazda GE platform)

2.0L 121hp
2.5L 165hp

and I do agree I have a lot of faith in these little motors they may be dead but they are not leaving without having atleast 300,000 miles on them
