My Paxton charged 4.0

I bought a 92 with a 4.0L OHV. The Paxton is
"unhooked" right now. My uncle noticed yesterday that you can't turn the pulley by hand. Should they spin freely or this normal? I bought it from a widow and she understood it to work and that her brother in law who drove the truck some the recent past just hooked it to save on gas. I think she was being honest with me with the information she had. I wonder if it starved for oil and he didn't want to tell her since it was her husband's "baby".

Thanks for any info and input, especially if it needs a rebuild and what it would cost.

Sounds like that headunit is seized. Have you checked the oil lines to see if there is a clog or anything?

What you COULD do.. Take the return line off, re-connect the belt, remove the coil wire from the distributer. Turn it over for a few seconds and see if the pulley moves or if any oil comes out of the return.

"Bird" has been a big help. From what I've learned the Type F fluid should be changed as a precaution and the unit not turning by hand is typical of Paxton's, especially the SN series. I hope to get around to changing the fluid and belting it this week sometime since the mess with the MSD fuel adapters is cleared away. The previous owner's brother contacted me also a couple of days ago. Sorry for being late with the update.

I think the SN 92 needs a rebuild. Sounds like a power steering pump with air in it. I managed to get the fluid changed and the belt on and fired it. VERY loud.

Was worth a try. Will have to decide what to do with it now.
