thanks |

|
Turbo.
A kit? Yeah. Most of the parts you will need will be in a junkyard if you are lucky. Turbo Coupe thunderbirds will have alot of the stuff you'll want. I picked up two turbo's for $35 bucks off a few Chrysler's at a junkyard once. Alot of cars came with stock turbo's that would work great and would be cheap to buy, and cheap again to rebuild. |
What are you looking for just a good street turbo? If so your just going to want to find something thats going to spool up quick.. Truthfully i would just go with the turbo coupe setup and then get a tune from bama...

He's got a D-tec guys.....TOTALLY different engine than the 2.3/2.5 Lima. Meaning no, he can't use any components from a Turbocoupe or a SVO. Only thing he can use is the turbo itself.
Wesley....go take a peek at Turbo Ranger Forums TRF. They're the 4banger ranger turbo experts. I don't think I've seen anyone with the 2.3 Duratec w/ a turbo. No one makes any kits. You gotta piece it together. If you had an '01 with the 2.5, you can just bolt on stock 2.3 Turbo parts. But you don't have that engine, so you're SOL for bolt-on parts. |
Oh are all 02+ trucks the D-tec? Didn't know that sorry... Do they make turbo manifolds for it?
|
'01 had both 2.5L Lima and 2.3L Duratec. All 02+ are Dtec's.
We were just talking about this sorta thing in another thread like...yesterday? Might be able to use some Mazdaspeed3(MS3) parts since they share pretty much the same engine. Other than that, I'm not that knowledgeable on the subject. I'm just getting into learing turboing the 2.3/2.5 Lima's. |
Hmm. Ive been trying to find a deal on a newer ranger with a d-tec to fool around with stuff like this on since not a lot of people are running it yet.. Maybe i need to get moving quicker...
|
Oh snap thats right!
Eh, Jackson Racing makes a decent supercharger kit for the Focus. I cant imagine Ford making too many things being different that you couldn't adapt that kit to work. |
so you are saying my 2.3 is a duratec how similair would that be to the focus duratec?
|
Wirelessly posted
well first off you would have to look at all the manifolds and piping cuz the fusion is a fwd and yours is a rwd. other than that most of the block and heads are the same i believe. are you forging parts of leaving stock long block? it would greatly help to at least port and polish then get forged pistons with silicon to reduce the hot spots...other than that check out turborangerforums.com they have a bounty of info. |
