No worries Jak.
the hx35 on a 2.3 is just a little big for street truck. You're not really gonna get power from it during normal day to day driving. If you look on any 2.3t forum, the guys running it want to switch turbos because its just not practical. 99.9% of 2.3t powered vehicles are purely street, hence why i claim its too big.

Well, I like turborangerforums.com.
It's super popular over there. And while your statistic is correct, that is because 99.9% of 2.3t vehicles are the 2.3's that Fords SVO team put out in the 80's that have the IHI turbo, and 190HP. But yah, if you want all around mild performance, hx35 is too big.

i have built a few turbo setups with holsets. the hx35 is no effiecient at low boost levels. it works best above 17psi. if you only plan on running low boost( under 10psi) it will suck. and you are talking about an even bigger turbo. ideally for a stock 4.0l ranger you should be looking at a t3/04 60 trim. gt28 would be great. instant boost and efficient with the power range you will be limited to.
