Casper98 08-05-2010 01:39 PM

^^LOL

ranger4.0 08-05-2010 01:52 PM

lol i just did and i like what i see but they dont list a price? WTF? and they also dont have any performance numbers. but it does look like a very complete kit

zabeard 08-05-2010 01:55 PM

Kyle I had the explorer express kit on my truck, worked awesome. It was a blast to drive to, that whine was unreal. Ah i miss it.

Anyway the kit is just under 5000 if im not mistaken. (power is just under an extra 100hp) assuming you have the appropriate mods.

ranger4.0 08-05-2010 01:58 PM

for 5 grand i would rather go turbo. thats way too much money for only another 100hp. i really want to build a second truck but i got no where to put it. i was looking into this instead

zabeard 08-05-2010 02:27 PM

you will spend way more than that on a turbo setup, think about it.

also performance doesnt come cheap.

ranger4.0 08-05-2010 03:12 PM

oh i know performance does not come cheap. how would i spend more going turbo? i just helped my buddys brother out a turbo on his mazda mx3 and he did it for under 3 with stand alone fuel system

01RangerEdge 08-05-2010 03:14 PM

For 5K I think I would rather build a nice V8, especially if you're only gonna gain 100HP with the 4.0

ranger4.0 08-05-2010 03:16 PM

5 grand is not worth 100hp. not even close. it does look like very well made kit though... maybe i should be the first to try the new 5.0L? lol

Red_Ak_Ranger 08-05-2010 03:21 PM

new 5.0l costs 8K$ crate i hear. Find a crashed mustang and doo it!

ranger4.0 08-05-2010 03:23 PM

well if i wanted to drop that engine in my ranger i think it would be more on the beard level of modified so it would be much more worthy of such awesomeness

Casper98 08-05-2010 04:37 PM

fifty dollars a horse power sound a little "indulgent" i cant afford that. sounds cool to have though

kfc ranger 08-28-2010 06:07 PM

Said this in another thread, look for a new mustang v-6 304 hp and cram it in . would be awesome i think ,and from what i am learning, may be the most practical way to build a sleeper truck-that kicks --butt.

Good luck making it 4wd. And who wants electric steering. Personally you all are fools. 5k for 100hp 100% bolt on is cheap. Look at my current project. Over 10k for 400hp swap in a ranger. Any engine swap in a ranger is $$$$

Not everyone has that kind of cash.

I would love to do an awesome swap like yours

I know but I'm just saying power doesn't come cheap

ranger4.0 08-29-2010 08:47 PM

I am a truck and coach mechanic... I think I may go turbo as I have a lot more experience with them. I can get parts very cheap through my work and can get all the tubing I need for intercooler piping and bigger exhaust for free!! All scrap cutoffs and stuff like that... I have not made up my mind yet though, I got things to fix first

morris 08-30-2010 12:44 PM

beard, i'm guessing you just cant throw a s/c on and tune it a little. even if you put new pistons and internals in, what is the block rated for?

zabeard 08-30-2010 09:12 PM

400hp if that? But I don't understand what you're getting at.
