Yes but you also factor in resale if you consider those things. The property tax/usage tax thing is retarded, you guys have that too? Man I miss the way Oregon does things. lol

Still it is getting harder and harder to justify a new diesel these days. It really only pays off if you are towing a lot and really need the stronger engine.
The engines are getting insanely expensive and overly complicated with the emissions, you need to be more on top of maintenance, worry about fuel quality (which is also now more expensive and less lubricate with ULSD), most use additives, etc... And the repairs are expensive, and you will probably have to hunt down a good diesel tech.

On the other hand I still love the Golf turbo diesel that we bought but that is a different story. It really gets killer economy and the price premium of the diesel engine wasn't too much, while resale is very good. But I still have to worry about getting a horrible batch of diesel killing the HPFP and ruining the entire fuel system, with an $8k+ repair bill. Someone is finally offering a DPF delete and tuning so if the DPF ***** the bed later I have a cheap way out.

Those Fuel numbers for gas and diesel are just for the Fords only too you have to remember. I'm around diesels and drive 2 everyday since i work in the oil field. Our diesels put our gassers to shame. My company/work truck is a Dodge 3500 Cummins 5.9L. My personal is my F250 6.0. (I drive both because I park the dodge when off shift.)

Cummins are good for around 20mpg or more. Duramaxes are good for 20+mpg depending on how you drive them. My best in my 6.0 was 18.4 My 7.3 17.6. I'm surprised you dont get better mileage with your 6.4 zach? Have heard of 18 or so mpg is possible.

You get what you pay for though. It's all in how you use and treat it. You beat the crap out of like like our company trucks, Ya stuff is going to break more often. Same with a gas truck.

Diesels are a better option in my opinion. But of course that is also depends on what you use it for obviously. Diesel Truck resale value is also higher than gas

Cant wait to see them put a diesel in F150s and the like.

Haha. No I wish. I should have specified. Mpd just released their own remote oil cooler system. It's going into testing next week. No prices yet.

You've got some serious patience. I would have traded that truck in on something else so long ago. Seems like nothing but problems.

No kidding, much respect for putting the effort into it.
I really don't think the truck is "nothing but problems," it was almost all related it seems like.

Eventually he'll work out the bugs and get ahead of the issues, and have an awesome truck.

With all the money spent you could've had a nice Corvette and Early Bronco that someone already did the work to.

Just my opinion, I've probably wasted close to 10K on my ranger and old jeep, and you're probably WAYYY past that.

A corvette or bronco would get me nothing. I need a truck that's why I bought one.

I have trouble trading it in. I would have to spend even more and probably loose money on it. Not worth it at this point. Next vehicle will be brand new I think. And most likely a gaser. I don't want a first year motor so I need to patiently wait since ford is my only choice. :)

If I was going to buy a brand new truck (wish I could) it would likely be a new f350 cc/sb lariat fx4 6.2l. I have heard of a couple of failures with the 6.2 that come along with a horror story about not being able to get parts. But that is bound to happen with anything that is brand new.

Yeah I'd like to see more miles on the 6.2. I willprobably stick with a f250 though. Once I get this ranger project done then I'll start messing around with the idea of a different truck for dd. Depends what trailer I buy too. I'd like a gooseneck but a 20' bumper pull would work too

If you aren't hauling a bunch of weight an F250 is fine. Actually it is really rare to find F350s on the dealer lots here since most people tow, and few haul anything in the beds. If I had one it would be for hauling a camper in the bed, so it would have the factory camper package w/ overloads and higher gvwr. Price difference between a 250 and 350 is minimal anyway.

But yeah, more miles on that engine would be good, I'm sure there are bugs to be worked out.

I have only heard one thing about the 6.2 in a f250, and that is the guy had about 3000 miles on it and was getting 17mpg on average. I would be ok with that. haha still waiting to hear if any other issues occur
