Body Lift People... i need your help!

My truck is get **** lifted next week, but you dont know that!!!!! What did you guys do to make your hitch not hang low? I pulled mine off and i think im going to cut it and trim 2.75 inches off, weld it with a support plate and re-install it. What do i do with my fx4 tow hooks? i dont want to take them off, do i trim my bumper up? Also is my bumper gap going to be eternally crooked like alot of other peoples are? if so i am going to make my own. just need some insight.... oh and anyone have problems fitting there truck in a garage after a 3 inch body lift... haha that would be funny, i would have to cut my garage up.

i can fit in my garage no problem. about the hitch there are many ppl that have modified theres mine is still hanging low i kinda like it there for the time being. my bumper isn't crooked its straight. what lift are you going with? as far as the tow hooks go you will have to cut your valance to be able to use your hooks

I thought about the hitch hanging down as well, but after I installed it, it didnt bother me. Plus, I can hide the hitch with this...

i ran in to one problem after i got my body lift, when i got a flat tire last month i went to get my spare off and the hole in the bumper was three inches higher than the tire mount that has the inlet for the tire iron to loosen the spare. needless to say i won't be getting that tire off any time soon haha. get you're spare off now while you can.

always take the spare off first and throw it away if you plan on getting larger tires its worthless

The bumper 'not fitting right' that your seeing is that the brackets push the bumper forward some, so the line up between the flares and the bumper looks 'notched'. That might be what your seeing.

Your towhooks will either need to be removed, or the valence will need to be cut. I understand there's a 'Michigan Only' towhook mod that stone might be able to tell you about. Works with the 3" bodylift.

Here's my lifted hitch...

Took a 2.5" chunk out of it...should have went the full 3" now that it's installed. Used every piece I took out of it to add strength...towed a 3,000lb loaded trailer for about 300 miles, no cracks. Will likely take it off and add reinforcement where the main welds were though.

I have done what shane did, i too only did 2.75 and wished I went with 3" but it still worked out fine.

I did mine a little bit differently though.

After cutting out the 3" like Shane did I then ground down the weld on the hitch tube and slid the sides in about a 1/4" on both sides, then welded them up, this allowed an over lap so i could get 2 different weld passes per side making it stronger.

I would show you the pictures but I dont have them with me right now.

haha NO.. dont PM me.. dont call me.. telling is not happening. its my only secret that will not be told ever..

there is only 3 level II tow hooks that work with body lifts that has been made here and work better then original, one's on mine, one's on Justins (grants "G'sevo", old set), and one on Bill's (04lvl2) old truck that is currently sold to some old dude in FL..

find that old dude and offer him lots of money to get the only remaining set
