Icon5 Fog Light Mod: 98-00

Alright, I know I'm asking a question that has been beaten to death here, but it has never really been answered. How do you do a fog light mod on a 2000? I've seen some say bend a pin on the relay, and others say that won't work. Has anyone on here successfully done this on a 98-00 and tell me what all is involved to do it? I have a 2000 and really want to do it so I can use hi-beams and fogs, but I don't want to break off a pin and be stuck without lights. Thanks for any and all answers.

I did look and only seemed to find the earlier and later makes, and only confusion on the 98-00. So just bending the pin identified for other makes should work on my truck?

1999~2000 Ranger foglamp mod:

Open the distribution box

Locate the foglamp relay at the rear corner of the box closest to the DS fender
(#10 in the owners manual)

Remove the relay and bend the correct pin as shown. Reinstall.

Map of Distribution Box. The red arrow shows relay #10.

This type of "bent pin" foglamp mod will not work on 2004~2008 nor on 1998 and earlier Rangers.

A short word of warning: It possible that this mod is illegal in some states. Also, if you have headlights, a pair of aux lights and foglamps on at the same time, that adds up to 6 forward facing lights. Most states have laws limiting forward facing lights to a maximum of four. Although it is rare, people on forums have reported being ticketed for running six front lights.

THANK YOU! I remembered seeing that set of pics before but could not find them to save my life. I'll give that a try today. Thanks again!

I did it and it worked! Not that I doubted either of you, I doubted me :) That will come in handy being able to use both at the same time. Thanks again to both of you.

Can you rig it so your fog lights will come on without turning on your headlamps?

I don't know about fogs with the headlight switch totally off, maybe someone else does. I can run fogs with my parking lights on and without headlights of any sort being on.

Yep, this mod does not affect the Fog lamps On with Parking lights on feature.

It does NOT let the Foglamps come on alone.
