After reading I did find that taking out the number 14 fuse would disable my ABS which worked! BUT! It also kicked my speedo! hah, kinda need that one.

(the reason for me not wanting abs is because I think it sucks, Ive had nothing but problems with it and would MUCH rather my breaks lock up then trying to figure out if it needs to pulse and then do a bad job at it.) (and the abs kicks on pretty much anytime im coming to a slow stop, ugh) so for the heck of it im going to do the rear sensor which I dont think is going to fix anything.

ANYWAYS, is there any other way to disable the ABS without messing with the speedo?

Edit* and how hard is it to get to the front sensors if I go that route?

It would throw a light.. but I would think you could just disconnect each of the wheel sensors?

I think the sensor the speedo uses is either on the tranny output or the rear end input.

Don't know for sure... I'm just guessing.

not hard at all there is a wire coming out of the front bearing assembly, i shut down my abs by pulling the sensors, then taking the cluster out and pulling the bulb out so i did not have to look at the yellow abs light.

 

Well we figured it out, there was a cluster of wires under the hood that we tried first..well that took out the speedo too then under that cluster there was one wire and that did the trick! Thanks for the advice, goodbye to ABS.

 

i am looking forward to doing this soon too....coming to a slow stop, especially after it rains, i pull up to the stop sign and my right tire locks up....S***** ABS system if you ask me.

Can anyone offer a better explanation as to which wire, or perhaps even a pic?

 

My ABS works fine. If your ABS is constantly kicking in something isn't right or your wheels and tires are way to heavy for your breaks.

Both mine and my brothers trucks kick in and out in the rain...it's a combo between sitting brakes and the slick surface i'd say. It happens currently, and before I was lifted(on 31's)

 

wheel speed sensor. follow the sensor that is in the spindle (behind the rotor). Follow it and there should be a connector. disconnect it and tie up the sensor end so it doesnt flop around. your abs light will trip, therefore you have no abs

 

Which fuse under the hood can I pull to trip the ABS, two of them are labeled RABS in the Manual; a 30 amp and a 50 amp

Do yourself a favor and practice some panic stops (especially in the rain) without your ABS. In our year, the 4WABS module provides the rear brake proportioning, so don't be surprised to see your rear end coming around.

The average driver would be better served by simply replacing the faulty front sensor. Well worth the $100. (although I'm not a fan of ABS)

It seems there is no other way to disable our ABS (other than disconnecting a front sensor and living with the light) and keeping the speedometer/odometer/cruise operational.
