Door Ajar Warning Light?
Door Ajar Warning Light?
yeah i know this is a ranger problem every one ive owned has done it. Today we get into the truck to go to class the dome light stays on, and the door ajar light does too. It eventually goes off but it is annoying.
Does anyone know the cause of this?
How do i fix it?
Thanks

Mines done it, i find if i spray a libricant liquid wrench or whatever you use into your latch on your door, and open and shut it, it temporarly fixes the problem. My dads friend is an auto body guy and he says its just some switch in the door or something, lack of lubrication.
mine did it to me a while ago, first in the latch mechanism, sprayed it with wd-40 opened and closed it a few times till everything worked properly again, then sprayed it with white grease so it stays lubricated, this should become part of regular maintenance as the machanism needs to be lubed every so often
The door switch gets dirty, and causes it to do that and a shot of wd-40 will fix it. Ive heard people even replace the switch and a year or 2 down the road it starts doing it again because the switch is dirty, so its not even worth changing the door switch just spray it with wd-40. Mine did it orignally when I bought my truck I sprayed it and it stopped and like maybe 2 years later it did it again and I sprayed it and it hasnt come on since.
Whats funny is when I bought my truck when you went to get in there were no interior lights and the door ajar wasnt on and then When I went to put lights in I noticed the pervious owned smashed the bulbs to stop it or he couldnt get them out lol.

My driver's side door did that again tonight. Thanks for posting this - it reminded me to go grab the WD-40 and bring it down to the truck in the morning. Reading about the WD-40 surely saved me $$ I would have spent taking it in to get it 'fixed'.

I have an extra cab 2 door (or is that considered a 4 door?)
I just did some reading about this issue in some other threads here (as my truck is infected with the "door ajar") and it sounds as if there are only two switches located in the each of the main doors and no switches in the small doors...is that right or am I reading wrong?
EDIT: Did the WD-40 thing...method no work.

Been hitting all latches with the 40 just about every other day since I purchased...which was a week ago today.
If that's true and there are only two door switches for the whole truck then I suspect the passenger side is affected.
In searching the site I came across this post. My daughter's, 09, four door Ranger is doing this. Driving along, hit a bump, and vehicle say door ajar, bongs, and dome light comes on.She has to get out and slam the passenger door shut. I have "bathed" the door latches, etc. with WD-40. Didn't help. Anyone had another solution? Thanks and sorry for reviving an old post.
