Im looking at some ways to mount it to my truck so its always there when i need it. I was thinking across the bed floor at the tailgate bolted to the bedfloor. I thought about the sides but i dont know how well the bed would liek the weight.

For the time being, till i find another job, i cant really go and buy the kit that they sell for jeeps and such. so im doing this with the basic bolts and materials i have at home.

Any ideas?

 

i plan to mount it on the inside of the bed behind the toolbox......or you could put it on the roof basket, on the bumpers, on the hood. people put them everywhere

 

anyone else have ranger specific installs?

 

if i had one id make some type of studs mounted on the bed comin up it slid in then get some type of ratched to hold it down..IF I HAD ONE (:

 

thats kinda what i was thinkin of. running 2 maybe 3 bolts fromt he under side of the bed up threw the floor. then sliding the jack down onto them and throwing some type of nuts on them but be able to lock them somehow, so the jack doesnt grow legs.

 

get hi lift mounts from 4 wheel parts and mount them under the bed rail on either side... htey look like this from the side.. they are like 24 bux

mount it on your hood right up under the windsheild it will make you look like a bad ***

 

i wanna mount one to my rolbar, saw an older ranger have it like that, while a spare tire carrier in the middle

 

your rollbar is mounted only on the bedrails right? Or does it mount to the bed also. Cause i dont think a bedrails one would be good for supporting extra weight.

another reason for wanting it at the tailgate, is more weight to the notoriously light ranger rear end. its an extra 40-50lbs.

mines a factory stx bar that's inside the bed. the ranger i saw with the mount was a stx with the same factory bar

 

Sweet. I guess i'd like my spare at the end of the bed though, just because better weight balance on the back end and lower COG.

Plus I want my rollbar to have a good change in a rollover :-) which mine will.

saw that already, truck has a full Fabtech suspension as well.

but i dont have a stepside.

I use mine often, so it needs to be with me and readily availible. I used to carry in the cab behind the seats, but now i cant with my sub box.

 

I still say on the hood

 

Make some kind of a hanger for it and attach it right under the bed rail. If you have a bed liner this could be a problem.

 

First, that's what jeeps do. And it's because its much easier to attach there. Second, a jeeper would always have to remove the hilift to open the hood. Since it folds up to the window so close i think you would have to.
