if you know of a good after market performance clutch for rangers let me know. i need a new one....going for a Luk if i cant find a better one to get....

 

Luk is a great clutch. Thats what I have.

Talk to Shane, he knows alot about them.

 

CenterForce makes a good one too.

 

I have a spec stage 2 and love it

 

zoom also makes one i wanted one bad when i got my truck but the jack *** didnt get the right one

 

I effin' LOVE my Spec brand Stage 2 clutch! grabby bastard...but it also lets you slip just the right about for wheelin'...something the centerforce has issues with.

 

hmm would a spec stage 3 - 5 be a big deal on a ranger?

Spec makes a stage 1 , 2, 2+, 3, 3+, 4, 5

 

stages 3-5 are a pain to drive. I had a rx7 turbo II with a stage 3 spec in it. Had to just about stand on it with both feet. Sitting in traffic sucked, almost no slip, very picky clutches meant for race applications mainly.

 

so what the price difference between a spec clutch and a Luk clutch

 

we rangers with manuals already have a weak transmission and weak slave cylinders....w/o better components, a 3, 4, 5, whatever stage clutch would be way too grabby for good street use or even severely wearing out parts.

 

$200 for a Luk.
$350 for a Spec Stage 2.
$350-400 for a Centerforce Dual Friction.

 

so what would you recommend for me Fx4wannabe01? mainly street use, some 4x4, and i kinda want a little more grabby clutch then the stock one.....

I love my spec because of the grabbyness it has...and it's ability to slip when i need it to. Plus...fast shifts, the clutch just sticks like glue when dumping the clutch and accelerating. i effin love it. spec2 ftw!

 

anyone else here go with Spec over Luk? worth it?
