Vacuum leak? Vents no longer work
ok so i went out and got some tap connectors and installed the green wire to the grey/white wire on the a/c... but it doesnt work, and wont turn on the fan with the truck in a/c....
and now my vent doesnt work untill i have it at full blast....
also it only turns on defrosser no matter what the possition... so wtf did the stupid fan do to my truck?

nope they still dont work...but i can turn on/off my a/c compressor with my switch still...
the a/c clutch would have a fuse correct? so its not like i shroted out the clutch or motor or something...

you may have blown the blower motor resistor(just a thought) that could explain why its not comming on except for high
*An overheating protective device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil circuit when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F) interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except HI*

^ ok that makes sense, my cel is on because of my egr sensor (or valve i forget what they said) so amaybe thats whats screwing it up... but its been on for so long and my vents have always worked....

^ no, the green went straight to the grey/white a/c clutch wire... im gunna double check my connection to my "extention" wire tom and see if that wasnt connect right or what...
when you tap into the PURPLE wire.....split the wire you tap into it and put each side on a switch.......i did this and it allows the fan to come on with the a/c and it also allows me to be able to turn it off while going down the interstate!!...........
sorry i know this is off topic....just a suggestion if you want a switch!

nope, i got the fan to turn on with the a/c now, but kinda pointless because i cant use the a/c...
im probably gunna go out today and get a new resistor and see what happens...any info on how to install it?

ok, i think i now know what it is... i remeber you saying that all the vacuum lines go to the passenger kick pannel... well i can hear air rushing in on that area, and when i took off the pannel, i can hear it, but i just cant locate the leak...
you have a diagram or something of what the area might look like?

and theres what im working with...
update::: i got it to work, and was happy, but then it jsut suddenly stops working and goes back to only at max, and only coming out of the defroster;....

OK, i know for sure that i have a vacuum leak because my trucks driving all funny and the power just bottoms out everyonce and a while, so this might be the cause of why my vents work intermitantly...
or could it still be an electrical probelm? either way, its going into a shop to get the vacuum lines repaired because i cant figure out where its leaking on the hose, i just know the general location...

ok so i went to a shop today where my dad knows the guy so we wouldnt get screwed, and hes saying just what priemer said in that its probably the blower motor risistor or relay... and then the function control switch...
ive found the resistor on autozone but does anyone know the location of it, and how to put it in?
also any info on where i could get a new selector? JY? parts store? ford?
