Different Transfer Case

Hey. So i was wondering, is there a different transfer case avaliable for my truck. I saw something from advanced adapters but will it fit my year? Do i need a replacement? The only reason i would change it is i would rather have a manual shift case and to get rid of the stupid problem transfer case shift motor.

you can get a manual one from a ranger....they are a direct swap and you only have to put a hole in the floor for the shifter....

you can find a manual 1354 T-case from about 91-97 and it will bolt in place of yours, you will also need either the correct front driveshaft or an adapter to bolt your driveshaft onto the front of the manual 1354. you wouldnt have to deal with any driveshaft issues IF you could find the manual case that came on the elusive FX4 Level 2s, but good luck on that one. the front d-shaft from a 95-96 explorer I believe will have the correct rear flange on it to bolt right in, otherwise you can have the flange put on your driveshaft, or get an aftermarket shaft, or i have even seen adapter to bolt the odd rezeppa type flange on your front shaft to the standard 4-bolt flange on the t-case...

The manual tranny 2002 FX4 and the 2003 FX4 Level II's had this bezel and leather boot set up for the dual floor shifters. It's nice but all of the parts required are ridiculously expensive if bought new. Some earlier Rangers and RBVs had dual rubber boots instead and you might stand a better chance of finding those at a boneyard.

thought the case had to be a 1354 to bolt up.. if both the 1350 and 1354 bolt up to the trannys what is the difference between the two?

The 13-54 is the newer evolution of the 13-50. Almost all 13-50's used a splined receiver for the front driveshaft slip yoke. 13-54's have used a variety of flanges on the front of the t-case that accept the driveshaft u-joint instead. Both the 13-50's and the 13-54's have been produced in electric and manual shift versions.

I don't know the internal detail differences but the 13-54 is the stronger of the two. It was used on the 4.0L 4x4 Explorers from 91~94. From about 93-on, all 4x4 Rangers have also used the 13-54, regardless of engine size.

will the 1354 or 1350 mount up to mine?
99 4.0 OHV 5 spd

my d*mn t-case is bein flaky, wednesday ill pull the connections apart and clean them.. but i would still prefer a more reliable manual one..

heres whats happeneing if anyone has any advice or shared problems.
one day the 4wd was working and i left the road and went on the trail and it wouldnt switch to 4wd, the lights just flashed... i got stuck in some pretty easy mud w/ the back tires.. i got pulled out and let me truck sit for an hour, and the 4wd didnt work then either.... then it worked the next morning.

a few days later i tried switching to 4 Hi b4 i left the road, it worked and would go between 4hi and 2wd.. but wouldnt go to 4-low.. again the next morning it worked again.. and the same sh*t happened on the trail a few days later..

so if its a loose connection its a weird one bc it will switch between the 4hi and 2 if i was already in 4...
