You don't need the steering column if you just install a floor shifter. You can remove your clutch and re-use the brake assembly that came in the truck. If you put a floor shifter in, then you don't need to screw with the dash and the gear selector display. I don't see why you would need different carpet either...

Yeah your right you can get away without carpet. I was assuming a stock look, so it wouldn't look "messed with" (shifter, cluster...)

Ranger autos are junk. You're much better off sticking with the manual. This is the opposite of the swap people usually do. Most swap autos for manuals b/c they're tired of putting new trannys in and would rather just replace a clutch.

Edit: Added more info

The only problem is that the slave cylinder is a big ole pile of sh*t in the manual. The only way to go is a manual T-5 but they only mate to a 4.0 ranger. I would like to put an auto in my truck, but it would be a GM 700R4 like GRANITEGUY did, and it would be for towing purposes...

yea...700r4 conversion. You can use your current computer, use a floor shifter, get an adapter, get your shaft modified, and your done. I want to do it. kinda.
