Is it a major Project or is it some what simple? My truck is a 2002 Ford Ranger xlt. The lights in the dash board by the RPM meter is burnt out.

If you want a step by step how-to w/pics, take a look at this. While you have it apart, it's a good idea to replace all 6 #194 illumunation bulbs. They tend to fail in the same general time frame.

It looks as if the bulbs can be replaced without tearing the entire cluster apart. It looks like they can be accessed from the back of the cluster. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the bulb holders a twist/lock similar to say taillight bulbs?

Also on my steering wheel at night on the left side my on/off switch for cruise control does not light up, only the right side does.

i am guessing your dash has a broken bulb like mine. Just try to replace the bulbs in the dash. I am going to try it tommorow. As for the steering wheel thing, i have no idea.

John...I can't see my self reaching wayyyyy up there and trying to get the bulbs out. Plus...there's not much clearence at all to get a hand up there with the cluster installed. OR....Now that i re-read what you typed....you don't need to tear the whole cluster apart.....just get the cluster out, flip it around so your looking at the rear, twist the holder out, pull out the 194 bulb, replace the 194 bulb with a new one, twist and lock the bulb. done. There are 6 194 bulbs that illuminate. I highly suggest replacing all of them. There's 6 total dash illumination bulbs.

Replace illumination bulbs on the gauges. That should beyour problem.

About the cruise control......pull the positive and neg cables off your battery. Pop the two side covers off the steering wheel to expose the airbag mounting bolts....pull those out with a 8mm socket...carefully full off the airbag and unclip the wiring. Then take a phillips and take off the cruise "pod". It's two halfs, so you'll have to pull the front and back apart. There'll be a "circuit board" (at least i think that's the right defination), and check it out.

If you want....PM me about your cruise pods...as i'm taking mine apart again here in the next couple days.
