Adding power to my ranger

As of right now all i have is a flowmaster super 40 and a K&N intake.

I want to be able to make my car perform better track times. gain horse power torque and be able to keep traction and get off the line better. i know a little here and there about cars. but i need some advice for makin this little 3.0 perform alot better. i really dont have a budget. throw any price.

If you don't have a budget, drop a 5.0 in it if you want strip times. A 3.0 is never going to be "fast" but it will be dependable and serve it's purpose. You can put underdrive pulleys, electric fan & a tuner on it before you start going into the motor but when it's all said and done it's still not going to be fast.

Starting off, you'll be looking at a set of Headers ($400-$700), Tuner Chip ($400), some traction bars (~$200-$400), Coil Pack (~$100), some good plugs for the coil pack ($50), Underdrive Pulley (~$200), Aluminum Driveshaft if you dont have one already (~$250-$300), Some Roller Rockers (~$280) and thats most of the "easy" stuff.

After that, your looking at a custom turbo setup, or a supercharge, each of which can run you upwards of $4000-5000 for installation and whatnot.

Perhaps look into Boring your engine, getting some aftermarket pistons, hole header assembly, nitrous, and several other doo dads that dont really have a price range otehr then being alot.

And that option to, which si the more preferable.. time investment and money, but its cheaper in the logn run to drop a 5.0 in and work it from there.

they don't produce it anymore, but you could find one thats been used off ebay or off this board. Another type of forced induction is a rear mounted turbo

Just go ahead and swap in a bigger motor. Trying to make a 3.0 fast is like polishing a turd, underneath its still a turd.

ahahha yeahh. but i just spent 1300 on fixing my transmission and i dont have exactly all the money to go buy a motor. wouldnt i also possibly have to get a new transmission and driveshaft? depending on what the horsepower and torque will be?

To actually get anything worth while out of the 3.0, you really shouldnt include the word budget in the same sentence. Get a motorcycle.

turbo,

something like a holset hx35 (I am partial to holsets, I know) would be the only thing worth doing if you wanted "serious" power.

Even something like a STS kit with a rear-mount is a good option.

Can it be done? Yep. In N/A form without killing your pocket? Nope.

I would LOVE to see it though!

Even an SOHC with an exhaust, intake, calibrated maf will only make ( well mine before being machined ) around 200hp to the wheels, thats with 60 CID more of motor and a lot better airflow ( no floating vavletrain ).

I hate being a nay-sayer, but honesty is the best policy.

I think Derrik must have done it but he had a machines vulcan with a bottle on it. He came close to Beating Coy in a ' heads up ' type of race and Coy had a SOHC with an intake and exhaust on it. I know Derrik had roller rockers, a Cam and some other entities after he wasted his block. ( maybe he raced Coy before he blew up? I dunno, was years ago ).
We raced in a parking lot and it was close, he got the hole shot because I have an open diff but I reeled him in pretty quick. On the highway it wasn't close. We swapped, his just didn't feel that fast and he was very impressed with mine. I had the old apten chip at the time and a modded airbox, everything else was stock.
