1995 F250 Diesel short bed swap maybe
 

So I am thinking about taking my 1995 regular cab long bed truck and cutting it down to a regular cab short bed. The truck is on 37s with F350 suspension and it sits pretty nice.

The truck needs bedside work obviously so thats kind of a wash on the bed work. The frame work doesnt scare me really, Ive done work of this kind before. The brake lines and fuel lines arent a big deal. the driveshaft shortening will be a 100 dollar expense but eh I am less than worried. We have a good shop around here for that. The kicker of it is I will lose my front tank. On the 1992-1997 trucks the dual tanks were not an option for regular cab short bed 4x4s. The tank occupied the same space as the transfer case. The 87-91 trucks have double tanks in this body setup but I dont think they will interchange. I guess if thats my biggest problem I should just do it. This truck isnt my DD its just a toy and very rarely a trailer hauler. We have other diesels for the towing duties.

Looks great both ways man. Personally I love the long bed on those trucks at that height. But the short looks great too. I guess it comes down to how bad you wanna do the work. I'd leave it long.

Thats just it, I like it both ways but want something that few people have. Plus this truck sees weekend trail duty so losing almost 2 feet would be nice for that kinda stuff

Short flatbed and whack off what's behind the rear tires. Better departure angles..if you really wheel it hard. I like my longbed.

I dont wheel it hard, I just trail run it and cutting it down to a short bed gives me the same wheel base as a 4 door jeep. And those do pretty well from what I hear.

The flatbed idea is cool but I am not dedicating this truck to that, It still needs to function somewhat as a truck from time to time

See thats what I am thinking, Its already not the truck I want (i want a SC/SB psd 5 speed). So I might as well have some fun with this one.

Well no one that I know of has done this with a 4x4, They use the F150 frame and transfer everything over. I dislike that idea due to crumple zones and its a thinner frame. I can cut this thing and reweld it better than it was so thats not the worry. I guess I am just worried I wont like it when its done.

Oh to add to it, If cut the truck will get full fiberglass bedsides and fenders. All with 3 inch flare

Before I owned my '88 I would've said hell yes regular cab short bed FTW. Now that I own a regular cab long bed the short beds do look a tad disproportionate. I'd leave it long.

Either way looks good to me.

See thats what I run into, It looks good both ways but I want something different. But being different it would only shine on people who know. Everyone else would see a jacked up 150

It really doesnt matter. But for the same reason I dont really like rangers. As cool as you make them someone says "its still a ranger". I would end up punching the first guy who said "cool F150" to me lol

OMG! I am in love with this body style. Everyone has a 99 and up. I have been looking for a ext cab or single cab short bed f250 95-98 powerstroke FOREVER! To damn rare. Not gonna lie though a guy down the street has a super clean 97 f350 standard cab long bed and it has grown on me quite a bit. And damn those things can carry whatever you want in the bed...Even my ranger. lol I'd say it's your call. But making it a short bed would seem like a lot of work...Orrrrrr it like look amazing. long wheelbase and a bobbed bed. hmmm I wonder what that would look like? Either way man. Hope you end up happy with whatever you decide to do...Like Cole said flat bed would be easiest. If you do have some skills or great welding/fab work you could hack the frame and shorten it then shorten your driveshaft and re-adjust your pinion angle and a bunch of other stuff. It can be done...I say try it if you want and have some friends with or you have some skill. Good luck bro.

Alright, Well soon as I get the truck back (having the trans built to the hilt) I am going to start taking measurements and seeing what all I can get before I even make the first cut

if that is what you want go for it! i think the short beds are grate myself, but that is my opinion i also like the stepsides. they just look stronger to me .

I looked into the step side idea. But its gonna be azz end light enough as it is. I dont wanna make it any worse lol
