Got my first Ford Diesel
Drove 90 mins to go look at it yesterday. I liked what I saw in the pics, I liked it even better in person! Best part is, the guy is going to deliver it to me.
I got the truck (VERY little rust for a midwest truck) and a ****-ton of extras.
[B]I just copied this from the ad, here is what comes with the truck:[/B]
All new driveline joints (frt & rear), hydroboost brake system from F450 installed (braking power is AMAZING), new brake pads all around, new wheel bearings in front. New water pump, fan clutch, brakes, rebuilt oil cooler, Alpine stereo, new headliner, newish Dual Optima Yellow top (deep cycle and starting) batteries, comes with new starter (spare, didn't need it), headlight relay upgrade, running light relay upgrade, all new Beru glow plugs, comes with a set of remanned BB code injectors (has remanned AA injectors in it now), remanned injector pump (not sure on mileage on pump and injectors in motor). New driver side door seal. Has new ISSPRO pyrometer. Fancy Alpine head unit and Alpine door speakers. Also comes with two fuel tanks with known-good sending units, the rear is a plastic high capacity. Comes with two new Ford-supplied front doors with good weatherstrip and new towing mirrors. Comes with a newer style combination fuel filter/water seperator to replace the two seperate systems on the truck. Comes with a good spare injector pump and hard lines. Comes with good passenger side door weatherstrip. Comes with 6" lift kit (blocks & shocks for the rear, new springs and drop barckets for the front, drop pitman arm, drop crossmember). ALSO comes with a full set of F450 springs: I left the shackles and frame brackets on the springs because they fit the frame on this truck. Also comes with the overloads and frame bump stops for them (also off of the F450). COmes with a decent vynil front seat, same color as existing interior. Spare radiator. Spare air cleaner assembly. Spare set of door hinges with tight bushings. Comes with all F450 badges if you want to get creative. Come with spare oil cooler. Comes with spare set of BERU glow plugs. Spare CDR valve. Comes with engine glow plug harness and new controller from an 87-up truck, this is a great upgrade. Comes with a set of 4 load range E tires with 65-70% tread and no weather checking. Also comes with set of 6 dually tires and wheels, if you wanted to make it a dually. I also have a set of dually wheel hubs that would fit the D50 or a D60 (if you swapped one in).

Nope, the guy inherited the parts from his grandpa. And if it does break down, oh well, I'm buying it to fix it up and use it for occasional hauling that my Ranger can't handle. The guy is selling it because he got a killer deal on a '99-'01 body style 4x4 F350 PSD Dually. He doesn't need two diesel trucks, he used this one for hauling his mud truck and other stuff for 2 years.

...or can an ATS turbo be slightly modified?

It's either 125k or 225k. The odometer has rolled over, but the owner doesn;t know how many times. By the condition of the truck, he's pretty sure its 125 or 225. And, yeah, the body is in great shape for the midwest. Only bondo is over the rear wheels, but I plan on putting a flatbed on it eventually.

Nice truck! I would say Hypermax pulse turbo... I had an ATS and it was junk. Also may look into G code injectors for it, or stage 1's. If you are really looking for some power, you could lower the compression ratio and bump the drive pressure (Boost) up but then it won't start cold haha. Make sure to stay on top of your SCA/DCA by checking the coolant with test strips!

YES another IDI owner! head over to oilburners.net and sign up.
if u need help with anything on that truck let me know. first step is to remove th soup bowl and/or restrictor in the air cleaner/lid. next, turn the injection pump up 2 flats (no more without a pyro), and some kind of exhaust if its still factory. they sound awsome N/A. also, how long has it been since the return lines have been replaced? how good is the fuel system (inj pump n injectors)?
BTW, this is Optikal illushun posting from my gals log in on her computer. i have an 88 F-350 with the 7.3 IDI.
