new(er) 2010 fx4

well, ive been away for a while but now im back with a 2010 fx4. started on here with an 01 ranger 4x4, then went to an 07 fx4 f150, then an 04 cobra, then a 2007 fx4 single cab, now its a 2010 fx4.

love the truck, bought it last year with about 50k on it and one owner. came with a K&N CAI, some MAF sensor module?, tinted windows, deezee steps, and flowmaster of some sort. i was averaging 17mpg when it was warm end of last summer when i got it but bc of the cold its down to 14-15 average and 16-17 hwy. ive also put factory sized bfg AT K/O tires on it since this pic was taken. after past experiences im leavin it stock lol

does anyone know anything about K&N CAI? i heard they suck and it didnt have the stock airbox.

pic attached

i miss it, really do. was 1 of 299 screaming yellow coups. had alot done to it but the previous owner who installed the parts didnt know what he was doing so some things werent done right causing problems. throwout bearing was goin out, had a bad pop in the rearend even after replacing the the strut bolts with the propper sized ones. got great hwy milage though at 26, but i missed and needed a truck. couldnt really go hunting and haul a quad with a cobra lol. if i could afford it id get as close to a virgin cobra as i could in a different color and have a cheaper truck but oh well.

Real nice truck. Nice and clean. That silver looks sharp.

Everyday that goes by I have to tell myself I should be content with the Ranger. I've only had it for 4 years...its in great shape...and i've spent about 3k on mods the past year and a half. I do enjoy driving it. But its just to small. It works, but not idealy. I can't haul more then one person comfortably. And its real cramped when going camping with the girl and dog.

The fullsize bug is biting me hard! I've been on the prowl for a F150 in my price range. Or maybe even a diesel.

You should at least put a leveling kit on it. They are cheap, and easy to do.

I don't like k&n, but plenty of people swear by them. Just be sure you clean and oil it properly and regularly. Check the "clean" side of the intake tube, they are often nasty either with oil, dust or both.

As for the comment on the leveling kit, I probably wouldn't put one on an f150 again. I went through three steering racks because they are poorly designed, and really not setup to handle anything other than completely level tie rods. I would go with a "real" lift (which means drop brackets) if I did it again.

Nice looking truck though! I still keep wishing I bought a raptor instead of the Jeep. With the money I've spent so far Id say I could have bought a new raptor, or damn near. By the end of the year I will be there. Lol.

thanks brian. do you still have the white one in your avatar? i really wish i had kept my 2007 f150 instead of trading. was just like yours but blue and ex cab. woulda been paid off this year lol. theres a super nice raptor at the local stealership. its the crewcab and is like a tannish color similar to the new jeeps. did they ever fix that frame flex problem?

Nope, sold the f150 in May and bought a new jeep rubicon. I miss the f150 but it was just way too big to wheel around here. A raptor would have only been worse!
I wish ford made something to compete with the wrangler, jeep/Chrysler quality blows. I use to think it was cool that you could get ANYthing aftermarket for the jeep, turns out its just because ALL of the factory parts are garbage! Haha

I don't think (as far as I know) the frame changed on the raptor, but there are a bunch of aftermarket frame gusset kits. I haven't been following them, but I heard the front diff now how a stronger pinion gear or something too. I've seen the new white raptors with factory HIDs and the 6.2. Mmmmmm

wow nice. thats the only thing that sucks about jeep is the fact they are chrystlers. i love the factory rear locker on my truck too, makes it nice offroad. one of these days id like to get dads 96 dodge ram 1500 and fix it up and put a 4BT cummins in it, new tranny, and regear front and rear. prolly new t-case too
