Warm engine and hit them with the 3/8 impact, no lube of any kind

Runs alittle smoother, I guess but it didn't run bad before, edge is telling me alittle better gas mileage but im not going to believe that until I put another 500 miles on it to be sure lol.

Awesome! I still need to do this but I can't afford the down time if I break one.
I'm not sure what to do right other than just keep driving. lol

I bought a lisle tool just in case, I got off work was in a bad mood looking for something to do, the plugs where laying there so I popped the hood and went to work. Took about two hours, but there where one or two beer breaks. The back took some creativity moving things and getting the right extensions to get the impact in there. A couple of them took alot of hammer on them with the impact, I had to wait for the compressor to build back up. This impact was rated for like 150ft/lbs. Just a cheap craftsman I paid like $35 for it last year on sale at Christmas time.

WOW, those plugs have a long reach! First time I've seen a GND electrode design like that. Does it have C.O.P. (Coil On Plug)?

Yes it does

Not really, it's recommended 100,000 miles but they tend to break easier then.

Im glad I did them, they where in pretty rough shape and way out of spec. Ford says 100,000 like trent said, but people also say they go 10,000 on an oil change, I would rather do them now, I will probably do them again in 30,000 if I still own the truck lol.

Check your coil boot, brown is the new type, black older type.

I have a '98 with the 4.6. I've had since new, 77K, runs good but I should change the plugs. Did the 4.6 motors have the plug removal problem like the 5.4? any advice? Great job changing the plugs! I had always read that they were easier to get out if the engine is cold, not true? thanks

No they don't have the same issue, only the 04-07 5.4s do.
