I've always pictured that if I were to ever get a Fiddy, it'd be a Fx4 w/ an XLT/Lariat grille w/ painted surround. I just think the stock Fx4 grille is too XL and STX for it to appeal to me enough to keep it/own it. Anybody know of anybody with this setup? Pics??

I just am visioning the honeycomb clashing with the DSG bumper....but idk.

PS: I've not joined F150online yet, but I'm a hardcore lurker! lol.

Yep, I hate that site 96% of the time. It is like swimming through a sea of idiots and mis-information for one good piece of advice.

Either way, the grilles are easy to change, and so are the inserts. I bet it would be super easy to find someone who wants to swap, there are several different options out there.

I have the FX2 Grille which has the painted surround...not sure if that helps with what your picturing in your mind.

About the size of a baseball. I got really really lucky. Got flung up by a truck and clipped the upper corner of the grill/surround. Cracked the grill and chipped the paint on the surround, but it's not bad enough for me to care to pay what it would cost to replace.

I can only imagine what would have happened if it had gotten the windshield instead...

amen to this but I do love impact9's truck even though I dont think hes been on in awhile because i posted a question to him and he hasnt responded for acouple days but I think I remember his thing saying last on like 2 weeks ago so I'll just keep waiting. I was actually going to get an F150 and was on that site and a few of the others for like 2 years lol learning everything I can but the ranger and price just fit in better with my lifestyle......an I hope you dont sell your ranger wannabe, too many are leaving for the f150's even though they are nice, thats why you should just get both lol. Im sure you've been busy but let me know if you ever find some info about my torsion bar bolt we discussed awhile back.

 

also wannabe I did some searching through some stuff I have saved over the last year or so through my times on those sites and heres some that I found. NOW these aren't true FX4 packages but Im not going to lie, its going to be very hard to find someone with a true fx4 package in the 04-08 body style and switched to a grill your speaking of, to be honest most just dont put that much thought and effort into it and if they did the chances of finding a pic of it is basically just being lucky as hell. but heres some ideas I have, and yes I agree that I think the paint to match and honeycomb grill would look alil funny like these 2 (is is alil hard to see the silver one, ill try to find a better pic of it but you get the idea... ...................... but heres some other ideas besides the normal, this is Tuffrd or something like that if I remember correctly, its a saleen theme which I think looks badass and hes sitting on 37's or 38's. ones the front and the other is just of his truck. ................. lastly personally if you really wanted a painted to match surround I would do that with like a billet grill insert or a chrome surround with billet insert depending on the theme of the truck. I like chrome your kinda opposite so its to each their own but heres one painted to match with billet insert and heres an actual fx4 package with painted to match surround but he has a billet insert like I mentioned....... .........but yeah just some ideas for you, hope this helps beens it didnt seem like you were getting very far. and as far as being different I guess you could go with your honeycomb idea but like you said it kinda looks alil off but im sure you could find a way to make it work. if it was me id want something like this fx4 with PTM surround or chrome surround and billet insert like I said (this is one of my fav trucks except I wish it was reg bed) [IMG]http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b468/ZWilson07/f150-1

Hey buddy i have a brand new FX4 grill ( minus the surround) that i got when they did the work on my truck. they were able to reuse the billet so i dont need it. It doesnt have the ford logo though. If you want it let me know!
