I don't see how someone can low ball that low. I mean I've never seen the truck in person but god damn it's freaking clean from all the pic I have seen also the way it's been cared for.... I would pay the asking price for the dang truck! GLWS she will sell. Possibly list it in other sections of CL or eBay?

I cant believe you didnt go crazy about the grass and parking on it when its wet lol.

Def don't take any less than that, im selling mine as well and will take as low as 10 for mine, acourse yours is alittle better appearance shape than mine is but still everyone is wanting something for nothing. I understand wanting a good deal but jeez some offers are more disrespectful then anything. Had a guy call me and ask what year it was and how many miles, after I told his an 06 with 80,000 he said he'd give me 6 grand.

I just tried my best to respectfully decline and get off the phone.

I totally know what you mean and most aren't really comfortable going to the bank and getting a loan for a vehicle from a private seller, most would rather take their chances from a dealer.

Defiantly do this. More people will see it if you post it in places like the general section. Or even post it in the auto parts section. Just tell yourself you did it on accident. lol You might also try posting it in other cities. Say ones even as far as 2 hours away or so. If I find a vehicle that I really like that is really clean and looks like it has been really well cared for I'm willing to drive a bit. Most people are too. I flew up to Washington from Sacramento CA to get my fx4. Then drove it back. About a little over 600 miles. (totally worth it.) Remember though every time you post it in another section you have to change up the add and how you write it out every single time....Adding to this the best way to list it is early in the morning on Friday or Saturday. The weekends give you a better chance of people seeing it as well. Instead having to scroll down the list forever until they see your truck. More people look on the weekend.

No point in ever being nice about it. Just say no sorry and hang up. Or something clever that is rude at the same time.

I don't get why people even say I have cash...Of course you have cash. I won't take a check and I certainly don't look like an atm machine. wtf is wrong with people...If it is a higher price vehicle and you don't have the cash your best is to go to the bank and get a pre-approved loan. Same thing as buying it from a dealership with no warranty. Just make sure if it is a high price vehicle that you talk to the owner and see if they mind if you go with them to a shop and have them do a quick check to see if everything checks out ok. (your paying of course.) Unless your good enough with cars that you don't need to. If the owner declines then just walk away unless it's really what you want and you are willing to take the risk. Otherwise wait.
Sorry I hate CL people. Even though I am one as well. I don't have a job. I buy and sell on craigslist. (Mostly cars.) But furniture and a bunch of other stuff too.(Anything.) People including myself are pos's on CL.

Good luck man. If your not in a hurry hold out for the right person that you know will take care of it just like you did.

Exactly! The thing I hate the ABSOLUTE MOST is when you are talking to them on the phone and they start asking whats the lowest I'll go? YOU F*cking kidding me...It says (if I'm selling it.) FIRM! if not it's OBO. How bout you come and check it out before you start haggling me...Also be willing to throw out a decent offer. Then your not wasting my time for you to check it out if you only brought 2k less then what I'm asking...I could give a **** about your time.

I haven't paid full price in a Craigslist Ad in years.

Anyways, good to see your not settling Scott. If your gonna be driving it for a bit, get what you want.

I don't blame these guys, I wouldn't dream of dropping that kind of cash on a 6 year old Ranger.

My Ranger was 3 years old when I bought it from a dealership and it didn't cost much more than your bottom dollar.

Hence why I said I'm a POS too. LOL I do the same **** other people do. Just a bit nicer about it. I take the steps you should to not act like an as*hole. I don't ask how much they would go over the phone. I dont bring wayyyy less cash then what they want. I bring the full amount. Then I haggle as much as I can. Then I flip it or fix it and flip it or if I like it I keep it. It's all just a game. Unless it says FIRM. Well then i'll still try and haggle. just not way to low.
Lately I have taken a break a bit from flipping. I'll take a month off after about 4 or 5 months on. it gets tiring. you always have your phone next to you. It doesn't matter your schedule. You getting calls starting at 6am till 12-1 oclock in the morning. Or text in the middle of the night saying "hey when you get this call me I was wondering about ___." So on my month breaks I sell stuff for people. Only cars though. Then I don't have to do as much work and paperwork and still end up getting a few hundred bucks. I guess work is work. Real job or CL.

It doesn't havta be cash all the time, a guy can get a loan from his bank and as long as he brings a document from his bank that I can show to mine and show proper proof I dont care if its a check, cash, w.e. But obviously for these situations well like meet at my bank or something, have my bank verify the funds or w.e to keep myself protected. I dont mind a guy trying to get a lower price and I expect it, but atleast do so in a respectful manner.

The problem is alot of people just dont really spend 10, 12, whatever grand in cash for something from a private owner and its hard for someone to go get a loan for it. They just usually feel more comfortable going the dealership route rather than from a private owner.

Acourse with that said I sold my licoln ls for 8 grand private party and ill take as low as 9.5-10 for my ranger so hopefully I wont have to bad of a time selling it. I expect people to lowball me but sometimes some offers are just insulting. I expect people to wheel and deal which is why I have mine up for 10.5 and ill tell someone straight up im asking 10.5. Then when they say well whats your lowest offer, I will say 10 or w.e. Then I might take 9.5 in person if they are really are serious but an offer of 5 to 6 grand on a truck posted for 10.5 is ridiculous.

I flip cars as a hobby too. However, i'm way less nice about it.
If i see your CL Ad, for something with a blown head gasket or such, I'll bring my top dollar in cash.
Then i go thru each problem i feel deserves a deduction on said car, getting you down to my price, Then tell you i'll offer you my price, in cash, today.
If you don't bite, then i leave my number and go on to the next car. People get so frustrated with that for some reason. they try to tell me that i HAVE to pay what their price is.

I meant cash as in money in general. Not just cash

I have nothing against buying from a private seller, I would try that route first, I got my truck from a dealership because it was a good deal on a truck I really liked

The problem with you both going to the back for a check is in most cases they take a day or so to clear. Even if you go to their back its to risky for me. Cash only please.

Asking 10k for a car and getting a counter offer of 5k.....SUCH BULLSH*T!

Well in that case of a check, my bank always calls the other bank while we sit and wait and has the bank wire or fax over proof showing that the bank will cover the check, the funds are there, or w.e the paperwork they do.

For my lincoln ls the guy came and looked at it, i drove him around, and we decided on a price. I think I owed 2 grand still on the car so he went with his wife to his bank and got 2 grand in cash out and a proper notice from his bank of the rest of the amount for the car in the form of a loan while I went and got some lunch.

When we met back we both went in my bank and paid off the loan and the car was released. My bank did w.e they needed to to verify the paperwork of the funds that he got from his loan from his bank. About 10 mins later everything was good and the funds were in my bank account. We then both went over to the court house and went ahead and switched the car over in his name, got his insurance set up, the taxes taken care of, etc. Then once we finished there the car was all his. Worked out real well for not just being a cash in hand offer kind of thing.

As far as the racist thing, it was funny but people just don't seem to use there head or if they see my drive by they don't realize all the little things that make mine an 06 and up vs the earlier years like we would, they just know its a ranger. So they will call and ask the miles and how much and they about go nuts when I say 10.5. Im like well it is an 06 with low miles, etc etc. Then they are just oh well my friend didn't know it was that new, he just liked it but he only has like 5 or 6 grand, nevermind. So I just kinda shake my head and go on.

Yea see stuff like that doesn't really bother me. I do that stuff too. Granted I do bring full price just in case I really like something about it. Something they don't know that is done to it that I might be able to take off and put something stock back in it's place and be able to sell the aftermarket part for the price I just paid for the car in general. See what your talking about and what I'm talking about are the same. I just bring extra for the reason I just said...I just put the extra money in another pocket. ;-P
haha

Nice, yea deals like that are cool when you come across the right people butttt a lot of the time it isn't that easy. In your case it sounded like it worked out perfectly. (Which is great.) In a situation like what you just explained I might do similar just cuz you still owed money on the car. If the car is paid off in 99% of the stuff I deal with. Is if they have money in their account then I will make them give a a deposit and paperwork filled out so both of us will be safe if something happens. Then they get the money out. (generally you can't pull out a large lump some of money unless your back is cool. lol You get what I'm saying. Then they bring me the money and we will do the rest of the paperwork and then the car is there's.

Yeah I will say it worked out pretty well, and hopefully this next one does to. My bank is pretty cool because ive been with them for a long time and they pretty much know about everything ahead of time and I try to meet there at a good time during the middle of the day so we have plenty of time to do everything. Plus that way the person buying my vehicle also feels comfortable and doesn't feel like they could get screwed over. I just want it to go as fast and comfortable as possible, get my money, they get their vehicle, everything legal/legit, both happy, and get on with our day.

Plus I don't really sell alot of things or just sell crap to get rid of it or if it has a problem, thats just not how I roll. Like my ranger, im not selling it to screw someone over or to pawn it off on someone else. It is a real good truck and very good at what it was intended to do, but with a baby and the female, the ranger just isn't going to cut it and im going to get sick and tired of having to take her car everywhere and its just not going to be a good situation. I dont expect everyone to believe me or believe it when I say I maintainence it very well, have abunch of extra to go with it etc, but its the truth. I can only be honest and its on them to believe me or not, but it is hard to trust alot of people nowadays which can make it hard for me in that situation.

Yea thats a great way to do it. I'd threw my bank more (if I really had too though) but In california you are not aloud to sell more than 7 vehicles per year without having a dealers license...I don't feel like paying for one of those though. haha
