Ford Announces 2011 F-Series Super Duty Power and Pulling Specs

Ford Announces 2011 F-Series Super Duty Power and Pulling Specs - PickupTrucks.com News

The all-new 2-valve SOHC 6.2-liter gasoline V-8 is rated at 385 horsepower (at 5,500 rpm) and 405 pounds-feet of torque (at 4,500 rpm), and the all-new 4-valve OHV 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbodiesel is rated at 390 hp (at 2,800 rpm) and an earth-shaking 735 pounds-feet (at 1,600 rpm) in the F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups. The F-450 and up chassis cabs are rated at 300 hp and 660 pounds-feet.

Let's put these powerful numbers in perspective.

For the gassers, the outgoing 2010 Super Duty's standard 5.4-liter gas V-8 is rated at 300 hp and 365 pounds-feet, and the optional 6.8-liter V-10 is rated at 362 hp and 457 pounds-feet. So the new 6.2-liter V-8 has more horsepower than either of the old engines and just misses splitting the difference in torque between the 5.4-liter and 6.8-liter, with two fewer cylinders than the massive 6.8-liter.

We can also compare the 6.2-liter V-8 in the Super Duty against its application in the 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. The 6.2-liter V-8 in the Raptor is rated at a larger 411 hp and 434 pounds-feet.

Which one lol. They got a good number of them. They look good, the information display thing is really neat.

I wonmder if Ford will ever except Chevy's challenge of a tug of war between the Chevy 3500 Duramax and the F-350 6.7 PowerStroke?

Isn’t GM using the L92 (6.2 liter) in the HD trucks for 2011 (about time, the escalade got it in 2007)? That’s what I read a long time ago. That motor in the escalade is 402 HP and 417 ft/lbs of torque or 419 in the Vortex max 1500 silverado/sierra. This is bone stock, there is a tune alone for this motor that will give you 90 RWHP. It is a great motor for a truck.

Here is a link (from the same page) to an older article about the 6.7L.
First Look: Ford's All-New 6.7-Liter V-8 Power Stroke Diesel Engine - PickupTrucks.com News

This is really disappointing to a lot of people I bet. Although I'm sure they don't sell a lot, and the torqueshift is pretty impressive to drive.
Ford officially says the standard manual transmission is gone as of the 2011 model year. The take rate was too low to justify continuing production of the ZF-source 6-speed handshaker. The rear cover of the new engine follows an SAE 12 bolt standard that allows Ford to mate almost any HD automatic transmission to the back of the mill.

but why? from some of the people i talked to no one could get a clutch to hold up to the abuse. They are building automatics which are much better than ever before.

I agree. I wouldn't want a manual with a newer diesel anyway. The new automatics are impressive.
I hate driving my friend's dad's 08(?) Ram with a cummins and manual transmission. It is slow and clunky, and loses all of it's boost between shifting.

It wasn't factory then, 2500 HD's came with various LQ4's (LQ9's were only available in the half ton). It came out in 2007 in only the escalade and gmc denalis. In 2008 it was offered in the H2 Hummer and 2009 it was first offered in the Silverado 1500 Vortex max.
