Forget the Explorer....Need some opinions
Ok so I posted about a week ago about getting an explorer....well the truck ended up having some problems. So back to the search mode again. Well this time, we figured a explorer wasn't going to cut it. 4wd and v8 wasn't going to help either.....
PRESENT....
heheh....I love looking at getting a new vehicle, even though I may look at something I can't afford, it's still fun. Well these I CAN afford so here's what I'm lookin at what do you guys think? All are 4wd, and have the bigger v8, tow package.
2006 SCREW Lariat, 5.4, 4wd, 46k miles, and they want $23k
2007 SCREW w/Flareside XLT 4wd 29k miles asking $24k
2007 SCREW Lariat 4wd 49k miles, asking 23.9k
And I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE:
2008 F150 XLT 4wd 31k miles, asking 23.4k
So this is going to replace our 2005 Escape 4wd. We have 2 little ones, and our yellow lab. We travel alot, and we do want to have the ability to tow. We looked at Ram's...and they just don't have the room. Plus their resale value sucks. What do you guys think? Any suggestions...I know there is a couple "FIDDY" owners on here. Lemme know...thanks guys!

Its actually called 'true blue'. Its basically a little deeper blue with no purple tint. Sooooo nice when its kept waxed.

4.6 is a dog in my opinion and I've driven plenty. I remember driving out of a dealer in Oregon with one, trying to get to freeway speed from a stop uphill at an on ramp. It was pathetic. Felt worse than my old ranger on 33s with stock gearing that drove the same on-ramp every day after work.
Stepside is gross, and looks like it is the 6.5 bed which is a little backwards to me. Look for 3.73 gears especially if you might level it later.

Brian, I'm with ya on the 4.6. It is a dog....my 3.0 Ranger feels like it has more nuts than it. It definately has to be a 5.4, plain and simple. I tow here and there, and if I end up with a "FIDDY" I'll be able to tow the ranger (heheheh guess what that means) Which in turn I want all the power I can get. And sorry tom...the 4.6 is gutless. I REALLY LOVE the blue....and like I said we have one locally, but it hasn't been posted on the net yet. BUT the first one...(black) I think is the one I'm shooting for. This is going to be my wife's daily driver/family vehicle, so I have to keep that in mind. Wifey already said she wants a leveling kit on the front. hehehehehe hello 35's.....LMAO
