The axle code for 3.73s with a limited slip is B6. The salesman normally have no idea what your talking about when you ask what axle it has, its just easier to look on the door sticker.

yes the 4.6 v8 does suck that bad...Ive test drove 3 of them, and they are not anywhere near the 5.4. If I wanna haul my ranger on a trailer, I don't want to have a hamster wheel turning under the hood, and the hamster's dead. The 5.4 is like night and day difference. Why would you even get a 4.6 in a truck that you PLAN on towing with? That's like going to a gunfight with a knife.

I'd do the blue one, followed by the steppie black one. I usually don't like steppies, but i've always thought they looked good on those gen of fiddy's

My vote is for that first one. It has the DVD player for the kids. You can add storage to the rail system I believe. I love the interior on that F-150.

Stepside is gross, and looks like it is the 6.5 bed which is a little backwards to me. Look for 3.73 gears especially if you might level it later.
A dog? I test drove an 08 XLT with the 4.6 (the one I have now) and a 08 FX2 with the 5.4. I couldn't tell ANY difference when I punched it getting on the highway.

I REALLY LOVE the blue....and like I said we have one locally, but it hasn't been posted on the net yet. BUT the first one...(black) I think is the one I'm shooting for. This is going to be my wife's daily driver/family vehicle, so I have to keep that in mind. Wifey already said she wants a leveling kit on the front. hehehehehe hello 35's.....LMAO
My F150 has towed my Ranger, a PT Cruiser, and a 47 Chevy just to name a few. It is by no means a dog. Comparing a 3.0 to a 4.6? Not even close, the 4.6 is a torquey bastard.

Yes a dog in comparison. I agree, that is awesome if you are happy with it. They sell a lot of them so people like them. I didn't like them. I sold Fords for over a year and drove a ton of F150s and Expeditions with the 4.6 and in anywhere but open flat area they lacked in my opinion. When you put it in a situation where you needed power it was pathetic. Like my example. Trying to accelerate up a steep on ramp from a red light to merge on the freeway. WOT the whole way and was barely able to get up to speed. Like I said, I drove the same on ramp every day after work with my 98 ranger and it got up to speed better than the F150 with the 4.6L. I made the mistake of letting customers test drive some of the 4.6L trucks and take that on ramp, and they wanted to turn around and go back right after.

I'm not knocking the 4.6L, I just don't like it in that application personally. I guess it depends a lot on your use, your location and your expectations.

Are you gonna tear it up? Do you need a 08.. or can you settle for something like a 2004-2006? Do you have to have leather? What happens if you sink it, or have to get out if you get stuck? think about it bud.. I recommend a 2004-2006 Screw 5.4L XLT 4x4 with cloth interior.

Excuse me guys....first off I'm 30....second this is going to be my family vehicle/tow rig for the ranger later on down the road. As far as years....I'm looking at 2006 and up. Mainly due to mileage. Yes I'd PREFER leather...because with kids it cleans up easier than cloth. Second this isn't a wheeling rig. That's what my ranger is for. I'm not going to "SINK" it so to speak. I think you guys have the misconception that this is a play toy and it's not, which I made clear in the FIRST post. So other than the bleeding heart 4.6 liberals...(hahahah sorry Tom) anyone else.

It's gotta be a 2006 and up
Its gotta be 4wd
Its gotta have 5.4 V8

What I'd like:

Leather
Navigation
DVD player
3.73 gears
Lariat Trim

Is there any questions? LMAO....

So out of the truck's I posted pics of, most of them except the blue one fit the criteria.

Trent, I just started reading about that today...what's the deal with it? I heard it's REALLY expensive if Ford changes the plugs and breaks them. It's like 40$ a plug?

Yeah its only 04-06 though. The problem really isn't as bad as its made out to be, as long as you follow the TSB 90% of the time none break. And if they do theres a tool out that will get the broken part out easily.
