2010 F150s and gearing

Did Ford decide after switching to the 6 speed transmission that 3.55s were good enough? Seems odd that most all F150s now have 3.55s and not 3.73s in the Crewcab version.

Yeah it seems like 3.55s are the norm now. The 3.73s are harder to find, but they are out there.

Yep. They are just a lot harder to find.

That would be nice but I bet there is a big difference between the cost of the two. If I went to 6.2L I would go with a super duty, especially towing what he does.

With the 3.55's it still tows better than my '05 with the 4-speed, the 3.55's are pretty much standard on '10's.

This may be a dumb question but I want to know anyways... Can you even get a new f150 with a standard transmission? I would kill for a new one if I can get it with a 6 speed stick and 4x4

well i test drove a 2010 with 3.73s and the 6 speed. what a dog. i didnt care for it much at all. drove like a car. now i still think they are nice trucks but the mirrors are so small and its hard to see. it was just too weird. the interior was BA though, Sony speakers, Sync system all the bells and whistles. I think they wanted 43k for it, took 3k off, then another 3k, and offered me 22.5k on my diesel. part of my problem is it will be tough going from a 600hp diesel to a 350hp gaser.

Maybe a 6.2L F250? I'm not sure what to do at this point. Ill keep thinking but I really dont think I will get a new f150, I just didnt care for it much and it was a loaded FX4 crew cab.

I would definitely check it out. I think I would have driven the 6.2L F250 I saw the other day if it wasn't waiting for PDI.
Retail on the FX4 lariat crew cab FX4 with black leather interior was $47k. Not much more than the F150. Sweet looking truck except it would look 10x better with a painted grill instead of the chrome grill.

But yes, it will be hard going from a diesel to gas!

they have a metallic grey f250 at the other dealer across town with the 6.2L. I really liked that truck, its like seminaryranger's f250 but its just an XLT not a FX4, mildly loaded. 18s not 20s which makes tires more affordable. the truck looked huge!

They got any 2011 F250 or F350 King Ranches, down there I know 2 people that want one, but they can't find any around here. Our dealer has 0 2011's left and the rest coming in are presold.
