Who has a winch?

Hey guys I was just wondering, who on here has a winch or has experience with one? I'm lookin to get one and mount it on a Multi mount and mount a front Reese hitch on the front of the 07 f150. What size is reccomended for these trucks and what are some good brands to buy? Syn or steel cable? Thanks!

Warn, synthetic cable, 12K lbs.

Pulling capacity is based on a min of 1.5 x the weight of the truck loaded, anything above is good too.

Synthetic rope is good too, safer to pull with if it breaks.

yeah most say around 2x the weight of the vehicle.

I have a smittybuilt and it works great. I like the idea of a synthetic rope over a cable, but I dont have the money for a synthetic to replace my cable.

best bet is to load it up with all the stuff you might have with you when you need it, and go weigh it on a scale. its worth the couple bucks it cost for a print out.

Ah alright. I looked up my weight and it's about 5250 the way it sits so 1200 lb winch will do it even doubling the weight.

I was looking at the mile markers and the prices aren't bad but the quick disconnects are like 500$. Why so much? What all is required to hook one up on a quick disconnect since itll be on a multimount? I figured all the equipment needed to run a winch is on the winch assembly other than the cables powering the winch, which I don't see costing 500$.

And looking at the warns there's like 4 diff levels. The bottom two, entry level and premium are what I'm interested in. The others are for like extreme offroading etc. What's the diff in entry and premium? I noticed the prem just goes to 9k lb

I have a harbor freight 9k winch, its worked perfectly for me for the 15 plus pulls ive done...plus its only like 300 bucks

Ive got a champion 10K synthetic rope is best! ill never go back to steel cable.

From what I've found, the only Front receivers and receiver mounts I found only rate to 9k lbs. So will I still be able to use a 12k lb winch?
