The link i posted says they are rated at 135db, stock horn is like 112db

I have a set of horns somewhat like those (cant find the exact ones)
and they are loud as heck compared to stock.

I think air horn just sounds ridiculous. They're cool, but too much for just a horn. I want a straight replacement, something that sounds like a factory horn, but just louder...

EDIT: I'll check out the Hellas site.

Here you go. Take off the Single note horn. It is a Klaxon TR33 made in France and is designed to be all by it's lonesome. The Dual-note horn for the 05's is manufactured in Italy by Fiamm. Part number 2L5Z-13832-BA. Fiamm makes horns for a majority of the car manufacturers these days. BMW, Ford, GM, you name it, and it probably has a Fiamm under the hood. They also trademark and manufacture the 'Highway Blaster" horns at your local auto store. The Plug is a dual feed, meaning there are two wires going to the connector. The high note and low note horns are connected on their own frame and just bolt right up. They are linked via wiring installed at the factory. Only one plug needed. If you have a connector that is female with two inputs, it will work. They are plug and play. NO splicing involved. The plug is male on the dual note. Hope this helps. TJ

One of the first things I did on my '04 was to replace the weak single-note (Klaxon) horn. I had my dealer parts guy order the late '03 Ranger dual-note horn. It has the same plug receptacle as the single horn, so it plugs right in with no modifications.

The Ford part number is 4L3Z-13832-AB (called "Horn & Support Assembly").

1stFordParts.com sells it for $24.70.

Does anyone elses horn have a protective cover over the bell? I have only one horn and the first time I hit a puddle it killed it.... I heard that some of the newer rangers came with a plastic cap to keep crap out of the horn...

The 2L5z is a dual note as indicated and the 4L3z is a single note, the Klaxon TR33.

What's the difference between Ford dual-note horns?

The part I originally ordered in Feb. '04 was the 4L3Z-13832-AA which has been replaced by the 4L3Z-13832-AB. The -AA horn I installed was made by Fiamm (the trademark "FIAMM" is molded into both plastic horns). It consists of two separate horns mounted on an L-shaped metal bracket with a short wire harness. It bolts to the Ranger with the standard single bolt, and uses the standard single horn plug. It does not have a guard over the opening of either horn (FX403 says the 2L5Z has a guard on the low tone horn).

It's possible that the new -AB part number is indeed a single-note horn, but I can't find a picture to verify that. It's also possible that Ford offers two Ranger horns that are nearly identical, except for the price and a guard over one horn. We need someone who works in a Ford dealer parts department to check it out.

I replaced my stock horn with one of those 'highway blaster' horns- it looks like stock, made by the same company as stock (flamm), and has the same tone, what the deal with that?? Oh and I have the wimpy single horn sound..

My 2002 came with one high-tone -FIAMM+ horn, which was even wimpier than the single low-tone FIAMM on my wife's Focus. I fixed the situation, though some say I've overcompensated: http://www.airraidsirens.com/posts/horntruck1.jpg
