preparing truck for winter?

cols weather season is coming and my honda will be going in garage starting first snowfall and the ranger will be primary vehicle.

163,000 miles on her, 3.0 supercab 4x4 stick (1994).

what are some good things to do to prepare it for the cold harsh winters of upstate new york here?

like zach said bfg at's are great all weather tires, sand bags or such weights in the rear(i think stylinconcepts.com has a special bedbag for weights), check your running parts and make sure they are fine(like he said its not something you want to do in the winter)

at advance auto there are these filable bags you can buy called suretrax, just lay out in the box and add water. they will support a load so you can still use your bed, check out everything like coolant, trans&engine oil, differential & t- case levels, 4wd for operation, tire condition/pressure. new wiper blades. and dont forget to get a ice scraper to put in the truck along with some good gloves.

Battery is good.
Oil is good
Coolant.
Heat and defroset is working.
Put a little extra air in the tires.
Maybe some weight in the bed. I don't personally, never had a problem.
Get some jumper cables just in case.
Winsheld washer fluid made for winter.

Just thought of another winter tip. I know Buffalo NY gets some ungodly amounts of snow. Yellow Fog lights are also very helpful. They cut down on the white glare during blizzards.
