lost a friend...
wel, this morning i woke up to my dog screaming, she had a bad back already, and her discs in her back ended up shattering, causing her to become paralyzed...so me and my mom took her to the vet and we had to make the choice to put her down...my mom couldnt be in there while they did it, but i loved her...and i wanted her to know everything will be okay...so i stayed until she took her last breathe...i miss her so much already, bu shes in a better place now...

ive had to put a couple animals down. my cat on my birthday about 4 years ago. that was a crappy feeling. i'm sorry for your loss.
bad back, is that dog a dachshund or similar breed that has back problems?
don't just get another dog for the sake of getting one. when the time is right, the new one will choose you.

Sorry to hear that man. We had to put a dog down in 2004 and it was hard to deal with. I couldn't even take him to the vet to get it done but he was pretty bad at the end so it had to be done. We really were selfish in keeping him around for too long.
It gets easier over time, but it still sucks. Keep the good memories around of your buddy and remember the good times. Every dog I had has been a great friend and a loving member of the family. We have two now and we have had them for a while now so this topic is hitting close to home for me now too. One of our dachshunds is getting old now and she recently has gone almost totally blind. It's only a matter of time but she is still a great, friendly dog and I am just doing what I can to make her comfy and happy until it's time. It might be years, it might only be months but until then, I will make those days count.
Take care man. It's a ****ty thing to have to go through, but it will be easier.

I saw your facebook post, sorry to hear about the loss.
My dog turned 10 this month. She's getting old and it's starting to show, her eyes are getting bad and she has arthritis. She sleeps most of the day. I've had her since I was 7 or 8 when we moved to our new house in Tallmadge. She literally grew up with me and the house. She's such a good dog and she is loving and it always the main attraction when we have people over. It will be a sad day when she goes. I hope I'm here when it happens though, I would hate to be on station somewhere and no be able to say goodbye.
